Hi Colin thanks for the reply l dont think they are either brass or copper l have given them a good filing they are not coated.
Has mentioned l will have to cut them down to fit so l will definitly find weather they are coated in anything.

Hi Jim, are they brass, if yes it should be easy. Some shaft supports are plated tin or steel, which is solderable once cleaned thoroughly. I use bakers soldering fluid to help the solder flow on steel.
Or silver solder should work on any of these.
Any pictures that could help identify.

Hi chaps, l need to do a bit of alteration to my Rivas prop shaft supports l need to cut them down. Do any of you now what type of metal they are made of. The parts are quite heavy so l was wondering if they could be
