Alternative to Trimline?

Good afternoon Neil,
Had a similar issue with 1 of my old models, I placed it in a baby bath full of water and balasted it to give a nice level, then I added some white oil based paint. Left it overnight to let the pain set then peeled it of the waters surface to leave a nice line around the model.
It was a trick dad had shown me in the 1950's.
Can't give any guarantees as paint formula's have changed a lot.
Cheers Colin.
Fair winds and calm waters,
COLIN.

Alternative to Trimline?

Thought I’d sort the white boot top line on the RTTL and Crash Tender today. Didn’t have much joy with either boat, in particular round the transom and spray rails. Ended up removing it all as it wouldn’t stick around the spray rails and kicked up when going around the transom.

Tried some 6mm Tamiya masking tape and got a fair line. Thinking I might mask up either side of the Tamiya tape, remove it and paint the boot top.

Unless there’s a trick I’m missing with the Trimline or there’s a better solution. Any thoughts fellow modellers?
