Now that is a bloomin good idea! I bought some years back for something un related to fixing a fire/rayburn but it dissapeared into the ether.

I do not do any silver soldering but will remember this tip.

soldering.

I would like to show a trick I have picked up. It can be frustrating soldering 2 small pieces together, especially silver solder or brazing. The blow torch will tend to move the Items apart. The answer fire cement, the pieces are pressed Into the cement. Then as heat Is applied It will harden holding the pieces. The cement will chip off afterwards. Now a large tub will harden If no used with In a short time. So I rap small amounts In polythene bags. Back In the tub and It will keep a long time. In the last photo I have joined 5/16th rod to form a "T" . Drilled for 1/4 40 threads on two ends & 3/16th 40 In the other. Not taped yet as the heat could have burnt the threads.
