Sunk Boat Marker Buoy System

Hi John, I'll weigh the brass tomorrow! Box is pretty big and feels like a good kilogram 🤔 Now it's way past my 'beddy-byes' time.

Oh that salvage job. I wasn't sure if that's what you meant. Yeagh Bad luck that. Then there was Lipos fire. I don't care how much care you take with them I wouldn't have them, even in bags or boxes. Couldn't afford to replace them. RE the brolly and stick shakers they are just interfering busy bodies 😋 Just how much brass do you anticipate anyway? Would there be enough to make a difference?

PS: model grapnels! Now there's an idea👍
Could trawl some behind my Southampton tug 😉
Now it's past 2am here so: Over and OUT!
Tomorrow is another day, and the first of the rest of our lives😉

Hi John, Agree re jobsworths, trouble is here any old guy or lady might suddenly appear brandishing brolly or walking stick, doesn't have to be an official! 🤔
Re brass bits for Snowberry; have to admit I'm a little concerned about the extra weight of the brass!
Re: 'fat pike bung .... where would you stash it':
Answers on a sealed postcard please to ..... 😉
Still considering a bottom drag trawler instead! 😲
Re Salvage op: Colin recently suffered a major disaster, a tree fell on his model workshop! 😡
See his Sea Queen refurbishment blog.

Re sunk marker bouy why not combine the fishing rods with fishing floats as markers. A nice fat pike bung would look good but where would you stash it? 😜 instead of fish hooks just use model grapnels or make some. To help with this try this .

Hi again Doug yes you are right about 35 mhz I forgot. 😭 Nice fishing rod Good price too.But what did I miss re a salvage operation ? Yes my Snowberry kit is the original too but not bought any extra stuff .As it comes from the box will do me.Taking off any flash, painting, and gluing on is quite enough. Re the Bavarian official ,a jobsworth is a jobsworth in any language . French traffic cops for instance and UK traffic wardens. LOL😆👍

Just had a thought!
(Happens occasionally, maybe 2 or 3 times a year, mustn't overdue it though🤔)
Instead of a fishing rod maybe I should build a dragnet trawler!?
Oh damn, that's against EU law! 😉
Good night from Munich, Cheers Doug 😎

Hi Colin, you've obviously never run into an indigenous Bavarian stickler for his rules and regs 😉 Was actually (half) joking. But I could imagine it happening here 🤔
Cheers Doug 😎
Fingers still crossed for the salvage op. 😲

Never crossed my mind as I'm an angler already. But if it's not set up for fishing shouldn't be a problem.

Sunk Boat Marker Buoy System

Hi Colin, Ta for the tip.
Found this on a German web site
Beta Telescopic
1276114 glass EVA AOG TELE 2,10 m 0.59 m Medium 154 g 14.90 € (Approx 13 quid)
http://www.shakespeare-angelgeraete.de/catalogue/ruten,20778/spin,71326/freshwater,71337/beta-telescopic,8160.html
No sign of a Shakespeare 20 🤔
Still, could be useful! You never know!!
Thinks; will someone start asking awkward questions about a fishing license?? 😲

Got my Shakespeare 20 years ago it cost a fiver with reel. Just bought one for my grandson, from a fishing shop in Wales, it cost £4-99p with reel. But not as strong as my original and reel is plastic. Good hunting Colin.

Only needed once on an old tug, but made recovery very easy with my collapsible fishing rod which is always in my car set up with a small weight and a triple barbless hook. They are also handy for marking a coarse for manoeuvring control tests.
Happy days Colin.

How often has it actually been needed? Not too often I hope 😉
Must admit I've been considering a similar system to keep track of my U Boat. Made to look like one of the Communication Buoys released to the surface. Sudden thought! Opens the possibility of fitting a 2.4Gig TX with telemetry to check battery volts and water intrusion!!

I presume you want to know how to attach the line, I drill through the center and put a 3" long cocktail stick through the hole and glue in place with epoxy. Then a piece of fine stiff wire formed into a U is bound and glued on the bottom of stick. Then painted in bright colours. Small flag can be put on the top if wanted. Attach a suitable length of fishing line to the wire loop and other end to the boat. I then use a PVA bag to coil the line in. This desolves in water.( available in fishing tackle shops). So if boat sinks bag desolves and releases line.

How do you get widgets on line ?

That's a great idea, I use a similar system using the widgets out of beer cans and fishing line.

Sunk Boat Marker Buoy System

Hi All
The is my idea of a cheap marker buoy system to fit inside a funnel with no smoke generator.
Tested in a bucket of water with only two 20mm foam balls, a piece of string and a lead weight.
Worked well as the pictures show.
It's only to mark the sunken boat position.
