Hi Mark, Hmm! The gum will go gooey with heat (sun if you get any!) or go brittle with time and fall off.
Thin card or heavy grade paper (depending on scale) and Ezekote or similar would be better.

Just another daft question ,I don't know if I imagined this or not but I think I read somewhere that you can use gum tape to give the impression of plating ,any help appreciated .cheers Marky👍
