Hi thanks for interest in the San Diego. I'm looking for £250 plus carriage. it would have to be insured and I would pack as best as is possible but still would not guarantee the carriers handling off it. Brian

Regarding my speed controller it is a PROBE 12 0905 with forward and reverse. I am using a 7.2 volt nMh battery pack 3800 mA.
Regarding the guide for prop size - thanks for the information I will try it with a smaller prop at soon as the weather warms up. I've tried running the motor with the boat stationery in the garden pond, it didn't seem to get too warm (the goldfish did!) but I will take your advice and get a smaller prop, I wouldn't want the motor to fail in the middle of the water.

The general rule of thumb - certainly for direct drive - is not to use a prop whose diameter is larger than the motor case. A Speed 600 case is about 37mm diameter. A 70mm prop is WAY too big for a 600 motor. You'll just overheat it and then quickly burn it out. That model would be better using a 900 motor on 18v and a 55mm 2-blade prop.
Suit yourself.

Hi
I also have a 48 inch RAF fire boat
I have fitted a Graupner 600 electric motor and a 70 mm 2 bladed prop.
I have not tried it on the water yet - waiting for the weather to Improve. Will post info once 'sea trials' have been done!
