Welcome to the site.
Sounds like the dash2 has a bespoke receiver and speed controller and may not be compatible with other sets. Do you have a local model shop or is there a local model club who could check it out. On the face of it you need a new ESC and receiver and possibly a new transmitter if yours is incompatible. I am assuming the existing rudder servo has a standard plug to connect to the receiver. Hopefully another member on this site has experience of this model and can give more advice.
Your second question related to building a Sea Queen. Building from a plan requires a little prior knowledge of model boats as you have to source all the bits yourself and will not have the benefit of a simple plan and instruction guide to identify the parts and where they all fit. A kit will have done all the hard work for you and with reasonable care and attention you should end up with a model that sails first time. As an Airfix builder this should not present you with any problems.
Good luck with your chosen method and I hope someone on this site will be able to help with your son's rtr problem 😀

another newbie LOL
hI guys and gals just getting Into model boating I brought my son a dash 2 rtr boat Its has a minI motor and with the size of the boat went pretty quick that was until the receiver and speed controller burnt out,can someone please list what parts I would need to get It up and running again It has a 27mhz transmitter thats one question out of the way lol oh yeah Its also got a servo for the rudder, right I really like the look of the sea queen boats now Ive been making models for years I.e airfix stuff and was wondering which was the best option get the kit with It all pre cut or get plans and make from scratch? been looking at all your videos and you guys have some great models look forward to seeing more vids from members
