Started with a Dumas kit of the tug "Brooklyn". I did not like that the kit was mostly plastic and not suitable for steam power. So, based on the photo I turned it to the "Long Island".

I like working with metal as well as wood, so I made the rear H-bitt on the tug Long Island out of brass. It is through bolted with a backing plate under the deck. Other metal and wood project was a 1" to 1' model of a 24 pounder muzzle loaded gun. Not a boat, but..

The gearing is 3:1 but with a 12v motor salvaged from a small appliance. (I save everything.) The motor mount, fan, gearing setup, I made from a piece of square aluminum tube of unknown origin. This way the motor did not have to be offset to accommodate the gearing. Working with the two piece ABS hull and other plastic parts was difficult unless you are familiar with this material.
