On your drive in August several places to see along the route. Kakabeka Falls, outside of Thunder Bay. Depending upon the route you are driving when crossing the border. Though the drive from Thunder Bay around Lake Superior is only one main route, I canโ€™t imagine youโ€™d drive north through Cochrane.

We drove that route and can recommend places to stay, eat, stop and see sights. Plus historical sites such as the WWII POW Camps which many people are not familiar about that existed during that period of history.

Just a few kilometres outside of Sault Saint Marie, is the Voyageur Restaurant and Hotel. They have the best apple fritters made fresh daily. Get some to take with you so that when you stay at a hotel with a guest bbq, you can cut them in-half, butter it and grill it for 10 minutes. Oh what a treat!!!

When you are in the area, you should go to the Canoe Museum in Peterborough which is on your route to of from Ottawa.
