It would be good to have a regatta with the Bearospace design boats. I believe there are quite a few around Australia. Looking forward to some fine weather and trying her out again.

Pleasing to see another "Emma" afloat - there could be a "meeting" sometime - all the boats together.
Yours looks great - well done. They do sail very well in both light winds and a breeze. ▲

I believe still in use today on smaller cruising boats including day sailers. Icsaw a video a few weeks ago of a trailerable boat on one of our rivers utilising that rig. Went well.

That Bearospace design does make up into a nice model and from all accounts, sails very well. The sprit rig particularly appeals to me and illustrates the fact that it was used on many
traditional boats apart from Thames barges. cheers, Nerys ▲

Probably a little exaggerated but I had an Esc fire on my Sea Commander. Luckily I caught it without a lot of damage.
I have to take the skin off my Baby Bootlegger. A friend gave me veneer strips to look like mahogany planks. It was fine for a while but then I found that the multiple coats of varnish did not make a good seal and they warped. Also being a veneer I had stressed them in the curves. Easiest to strip them off and look at a simple balsa sheath followed by resin and varnish. Also commenced building my 1m Crandall Flyer some time ago. Am going to start from scratch and build again. Basically it was above my then pay grade. More confident now. Both the Wee Nip and 1meter are fine.π€ ▲

I have it from where I bought the plans and intend emailing him tomorrow.
I was very impressed with his service at that stage and have been following his videos all the way through. Very informative. I have 3 boats to rebuild and then be looking at his Flyer yacht. I think that takes me to the end of 2013. At least. ▲

Does Gary include his email address on his plans or instruction sheet?
I find he responds verily quickly and enjoys hearing about the build people have done, including frustrations along the way. He also likes seeing the finished work and will put them on his YouTube page. Ron ▲

Yes I had some leftover Mylar that was too heavy for my WeeNip but similar to my 1meter. It does the job well though I am wondering about putting some tape battens on the rear section of the sail to stiffen it. I also am half way through building a topsail which will be ripstop. A friend built Annie which I have copied in below. A bit bigger and with a complete suit of ripstop sails.

Overall it was an easy build. The hardest parts for me were bending the copper tube for the jib sheet (1 meter of tube to get a piece roughly 7cm long). I guess the saying If you cannot fix it walk away and think about it then do it. That bit took several days of frustration. I found it a very enjoyable build. Not perfect but will do me.

Nice looking sailboat. Was Garyβs design an easygoing build or were there parts of the plan that needed clarification?
Many people around the world have built his designs, he has a large following. He helped me when building my schooner. Did you make your sails? ▲
