Buxton Model Boat Club Celebrates 10 year anniversary
The Pavilion Gardens Lake in Buxton is the venue for the โBuxton Model Boat Clubโ, here local enthusiasts have sailed model boats on the lake for over 60 years.
Founded in 2004 as the "Pavilion Gardens model Boat Club " - the club was revitalised in 2012 and was renamed โBuxton Model Boat Clubโ , since then the club has grown from strength to strength and on Sunday 10th April 2022 celebrates 10 years in operation.
Under licence from the High Peak Borough Council, the Buxton Model Boat Club sail at this magnificent location on Sunday and Thursday mornings between 08.00 and 11.00 hrs at the large boating lake off Burlington Road, Buxton, Derbyshire, SK17 9AY
Set within 23-acres of magnificent landscaped gardens and play areas, the venue provides the perfect setting for fun days out for all the family with adequate parking facilities and recently updated amenities.
Close to the county boundaries with Cheshire, Staffordshire and South Yorkshire, Buxton is described as "the gateway to the Peak District National Park" and boasts many beautiful historic buildings dating back to 1871 which superbly show off the past Victorian splendour of Buxton.
As ambassadors for the town, many special events are supported and hosted by club members. The club objectives being to promote the hobby of model boating and encourage all age groups in the local community and surrounding area to participate, thus providing a quiet and relaxing visual aspect for both locals and visitors to the town.
