    Slim Nip
Exploring the possibilities of a new sleeker look to the Wee Nips that I have built previously , - Result :- the "Slim Nip" .
    Camera Boat No.4
Camera Boat No.4 still undergoing development !.
    Tiki
My Gaff Rigged Bristol Pilot Cutter started life as a static display model which I recently adapted for " Radio Control " . With extra sealing inside and out, she is seen here on her inaugural trial sailing - checking balance / trim /steering and simple sail control. Certainly no claims here on scale or workmanship ! - just a " fun and functional " model which more than satisfies my initial challenge ! .
    Camera Boat No. 3
Adapted Swamp Dawg with wider pontoon area and brushed speed 400 motor.
    Camera Nip
Wee Nip Camera boat with rotating Gopro.
    Camera Boat No.1 - Tomkat
    Camera boat no1.
    J Class Style
J Class Style Pond Yacht - Rescued from the skip and given a new lease of life to sail again as "Rudder only" radio controlled.
Camera Boat No.2 - Swamp Dawg
Quick and simple solution to save those action moments - Pair phone or tablet with GoPro camera app, or simply record with remote via wifi.
    RC Laser
RC Laser - not a home brew of course, but for many years an object of desire due to simplicity of design, assembly, aesthetics and convenience. Love the Laser, but the Wee Nip still my "go to" boat.
    Mickey Finn
Purchased original Rojair Mickey Finn from Ashton Models 35 years ago - hull suffered damaged so made a F/G mould before repairing and sailing. Made spare hull from mould and there she sat for 35+ years. Original Mickey was sold many years ago but as retirement approached the burning desire to fulfill old challenges re-emerged. So , after putting out calls for help, diagrams, photos or information on the model boat forums, thanks to "John Dowd" and a couple of other guys, I finally got round to resurrecting this fantastic 36" yacht.
    "Genie"
"Genie" was classic Marblehead design from Vic Smead , she had a hard chine hull construction. Living in New Zealand in the early 70`s I ended up building 4 of these in total - only glad I took some picies. Long gone now, but not forgotten !
    Wee Nip
My first (and following) Wee Nips

Seeing the time and effort other people put into their modelling hobby, and looking at the "build blogs" and forum comments on "Model Boats Website". I was prompted to share (with agreement) a couple of build (logs) blogs which would reach a wider audience via my youtube posts.
The intention is just to supplement and acknowledge ideas from all who share this common interest.

Exploring the possibilities of a new sleeker look to the Wee Nips that I have built previously , - I created the "Slim Nip" just as a development from the original classic Graham Bantock design.
    Length - 720mm
    Beam - 166mm
    Keel depth - 290mm
Mast height - 1130mm above the deck.
Maintaining the simplicity and convenience of a Uni rig , easy to transport , easy to rig , & no guys .
Result was : - a new look, light wind, high aspect ratio - "Slim Nip".

Buxton Model Boat Club Celebrates 10 year anniversary

The Pavilion Gardens Lake in Buxton is the venue for the โ€œBuxton Model Boat Clubโ€, here local enthusiasts have sailed model boats on the lake for over 60 years.
Founded in 2004 as the "Pavilion Gardens model Boat Club " - the club was revitalised in 2012 and was renamed โ€œBuxton Model Boat Clubโ€ , since then the club has grown from strength to strength and on Sunday 10th April 2022 celebrates 10 years in operation.

Under licence from the High Peak Borough Council, the Buxton Model Boat Club sail at this magnificent location on Sunday and Thursday mornings between 08.00 and 11.00 hrs at the large boating lake off Burlington Road, Buxton, Derbyshire, SK17 9AY

Set within 23-acres of magnificent landscaped gardens and play areas, the venue provides the perfect setting for fun days out for all the family with adequate parking facilities and recently updated amenities.

Close to the county boundaries with Cheshire, Staffordshire and South Yorkshire, Buxton is described as "the gateway to the Peak District National Park" and boasts many beautiful historic buildings dating back to 1871 which superbly show off the past Victorian splendour of Buxton.

As ambassadors for the town, many special events are supported and hosted by club members. The club objectives being to promote the hobby of model boating and encourage all age groups in the local community and surrounding area to participate, thus providing a quiet and relaxing visual aspect for both locals and visitors to the town.

    ๐Ÿ“ PULSING NOISE ?
5 months ago by philcaretaker ( Commander)
    Flag
Tnx JB and dave976, these props and lecy bits are a "means an end" for me ! - when I flew RC gliders, I once tried a messy diesel to get airborne and vowed never again. I do enjoy the filming side of RC Modeling so am determined to try and sort out this pulsing issue. rather than fall out of love with power altogether. ! So yes, I will follow yours and dave976`s advice on prop selection etc. (these cheap props do seem quiet flexible !). I will also go through all the connectors and leads as you say using the "trial by elimination" process !!!.
Thanks guys for the help and support !

Just a quick update with the new camera boat before fitting and running with the Gopro attached.
    Observations :-
    1. Maneuverability - Great - but better control with high and low rate options!.
    2. Speed - Too much ? - may be , but enough for me to throttle back quickly !.
    3. Camera - Good balance and rotation for 360*.
    4. Cost - Minimal - ie. Motor & ESC kit from Hobbybitz.
    5. Noise - 5/10
    6. Fun Factor - 10/10 - just for fun ! - enjoy RC Sailing !.

NOTE - I would be interested to know of any theories in respect of the "PULSING NOISE" of the motor ?????
    Cheers
