On a visit to Hayling Island last year, I met and sailed members of the Hayling Island Model Boat Club at their local venue at Mill Rythe.
May this year provided me the opportunity for a return visit.
Many thanks again to all members for the hospitality shown.
Special thanks to Greg, Rob and Mike (the Swan Whisperer) !.

BOTTOM LINE ! - Thinking back , the idea of using the FPV with goggles seemed a good idea at the time, but -
    1. With goggles on - my eyes couldn't focus, and with lag, latency and glare I couldn`t sync the brain to frame or capture the shot !.

    2. With the smart phone - Same problems, and with so much going on, unreliable wi-fi was too much for me !.
Maybe a different story with 2 people or a new brain 😝 !!

Hi to all, Great video Lew, you have a terrific setting there with support from the authorities.
My monitor cam was ok but poor video and also drops 2.4 signal from time to time !.
Phone works reasonably with GoPro app but lags with latency and difficult to see in sunny conditions so I tend to revert back to the GoPro 7 for stability and quality, using the remote to trigger shots.
My Sony also like me - getting old but struggles with zoom close up with glare over water ! - apart from that we get by the best we can πŸ˜–.
I use cybelink PD14 for editing with my old desktop which 🀞 keeps chugging along ☺️.
Cheers for now and enjoy your sailing β›΅πŸ˜Ž.

Hi Lew, I know exactly where you are coming from.
Since a stroke I find it difficult to do everything at once - but it is good therapy and good fun to share the memories / results with club friends and like minded people.

For close in shooting, I have tried a small cam to frame/monitor the shots, and have also tried various cameras for the wide angle zoom shots but for video quality and stabilisation but I usually go back to the footage where I have used my Sony HX90 on land, or my Gopro 7 with hand remote for my camera boats - then spend hours editing !!!.

I`m sure you are aware of the problems that filming on water creates - ie. glare /reflection /white balance & exposure changes etc. - Also fast boats causing "bouncy" wake don't help the problems at all !!
How ever, it is fun, it is a challenge and we wouldn`t do it if we didn't enjoy it !.

I look forward to hearing of your experiences - cheers
    Phil

Cheers for responding Dave , I thought I was loosing itπŸ™„πŸ˜‹πŸ€£- I used to be able to access "Boat Clubs & Lakes" in alphabetical order, hence I thought perhaps there was a bug !.

It was a facility that I found very use full in the past, and now "post lockdowns " - I fancy visiting some other UK club venues, unfortunately not all clubs list their location on the map, so I just need to do some more cross referencing.

"Great site - and many thanks to all who administer her "

Hi Roger , all noted. I did put on an adjustable jib rack expecting to have "juggle" positions. With the weather starting to improve hopefully I can spend a bit more time working on the finer points. Someone once said to me , "you can get anything to sail , but its more difficult to get it to sail well" - How very true !!!!.
    cheers

My Bermuda rigged "Slim Nip 2" evolved from many hours of enjoyment I have had building, sailing and re tweaking previous "Nips".
The Bermuda rigged "Slim Nip 2" was a natural progression from my recent uni rigged "Slim Nip"
I just had to explore how an extended (76cm) Bermuda rigged hull would look and sail ?.
    Length - 760mm , Beam - 170mm , Mast - 1100mm (Deck to top).

Not Sure ? - however I think that possibly the webmaster has put in a "direct - direct link" for videos on the website ?
Actually after re-editing some of my own media content, I feel it looks better and must free up resources, though possibly some content may have been lost ?. I`m sure all we be explained and any bugs will be sorted.
