I had to pause while I got some more thin sticks of wood delivered, but I've completed the detailing of the main superstructure.
For the window frames I used 3mmx0.5mm mahogany strips. I got the mitred corners done by printing out the window shapes on paper, taping roughly cut strips to the lines and cutting the overlapping corners.
For the edging around the flying bridge I used 3mmx1mm mahogany strips, trimmed to fit where the wind shield encroached on the starboard side.
For the edging around the rear profiles I used two layers of 4mmx0.5mm mahogany strip to get enough flexibility to match the profiles and to overhang enough to cover the vertical ribs.
The navigation light mounts on either side of the bridge took quite a lot of experimentation to get right. I had to get a design that would print, while matching the roof profile curve and fiting between the roof ribs and the windshield. I got there eventually though, and they are quite small, so it was more of a time sink than a waste of printer filament. Mounting them did show that the ribs on the wheelhouse roof weren't symmetrically mounted,, so I had to cut them ends off one side and repaint them to make it look right.
I also designed and 3d printed a pair of bulkhead lights that the plan has behind the rearmost windows and the clear view screens for the front windows. If I'm honest I didn't quite get the screens centred symmetrically, but you have to be paying close attention from close up to notice (that's what I'm telling myself anyway).
Finally I printed another mushroom vent as somehow I had missed one of the three on the roof.
The next stage will be the mast...

Some very quick progress this time. for a change.
I've been thinking about the main mast for a while now as it's quite a complicated structure and changed over time from that shown on Vic Smeed's plans.
I tried printing the full thing from the RTTL STL files that I have a couple of times a while ago, but I never got close to making that work. Lately I decided to use some wooden dowels for the main legs and mast, and 3d print the other parts to provide the details. Looking at photos of 2757, the mast structure has far more bracing and different aerial configurations than the plans, so I decided to go with the photos if possible.
This weekend, after completing the main superstructure, I was in the mood to give it a try, so decided to get as much of the 3d parts designed and printed as I could. I'm getting the hang of designing small parts with Fusion360, so that part went relatively smoothly. It takes quite a while to print lots of small parts as my printer doesn't like doing small unconnected parts, so I ended up doing most of them one at a time
Tonight I glues the last of the bits together and I'm really pleased with the result. It even sits on the mountings on the superstructure roof with decent alignment.
The photos clearly show the dowels and the printed parts. I also ended up using some thin brass rod for the top aerial, which is a lot more robust than PLA even if I could have persuaded my printer to print it (I couldn't).
The one part I haven't added yet is the egg beater aerial. I may just add the mount for it later as I'm pretty sure it wasn't present all of the time and I think it will be a pain to model in 1/24. I can take my time making that decision though.
The next step will be to paint it all, add some rigging and bolt it to the superstructure roof.

I got the mast painted white and then waited for Amazon to deliver some 0.5mm beige elasticated thread and some 1mm heat shrink tubing to finish off the cabling and rigging.
I used the beige thread for the ensign and signal ropes along with a fabric ensign from Cornwall model boats. I got ahead of myself again and rigged the ensign rope before putting the ensign on, which made life difficult, but I got away with it.
I used the heat shrink tube to run some black 0.5mm elasticated thread up the starboard mast support - something I'd seen in a photo of RTTL 2756 at 1125 MCU in Gan.
I then bolted the mast to the mounting points on the superstructure - this required a small about of drilling out to make all the holes align correctly, but everything is secure.

I started off by taking the measurements and angles of the superstructure front from the model to enable me to draw the shape of each layer - no two of which are the same because of the angles involved.
It took quite a lot of time in Fusion 360 and lots of test prints to get the shapes and angles close to right, but I got there in the end.

I'm not part of a club or anything and there is no boating pond nearby, but the Union canal runs though Linlithgow and I found a spot with a jetty for canal barges with a lowered section that would let me get close enough to the water to launch and recover the boat.
As you can see from the video, I definitely need some practice at the controls, but in spite of me, I think it looks pretty good in the water. It has plenty of power and does plane, but is maybe a little unstable, especially with my less than expert touch on the controls.
To make the control part easier I've already switched the independently controlled motors over to use two mixed channels, with the rudder stick controlling the master and a channel not mapped to a stick slaved 100% to get the motors synced together. This will mean I don't have engine steering at low speeds, but I was struggling to steer without adding right hand power changes with the independent setup, so hopefully that will make things smoother.
I think I'll also put the second battery that I had originally planned back in to add a bit more weight.
I'm going to call this build done at this point, so thanks to everyone who had a look, posted advice, and generally took an interest in what I was doing. For a first attempt I think it has turned out really well - I just have to practice with it now!
