Yes, the engine has a direct drive to the propeller. When sailing, the engine runs at about 20 - 40%, so it doesn't heat up. The boat is not a racing boat, it's good to sail slowly.
I'll probably use the gearbox on a new 1:7 model - I don't know yet. I'll keep you posted.

Based on old and new photos, and based on previous experiences, I will show the progress of working on the model here.
So far, it's more of a carpentry job than a modeler's work..I am adding a photo of two more ribs - 26.5.2025. I glue the ribs right away, but I will cut or drill them as needed. Even though I already have one experience - it's not enough. Sometimes the right result is on the second or third try - but that doesn't bother me. I welcome any practice in this size of model.

The engines are 2x MIG G650. At 12V voltage about cca 3000 rpm. Propeller 50mm.

The basic idea of โโbuilding fireboat models is my admiration for the profession of firefighter. We have a volunteer firefighter corps here at home, where it is possible to show the model to other firefighter fans.
Yes, the 1:7 model is large. But it gives the opportunity to work out more details. I have several dozen photos with firefighter equipment. Otherwise, the ship is just a civilian one. I will gradually publish the photos here.

I will try to simply describe (using google translate) the fundamental problem with my work. The first problem - I used a type of resin that hardens only in a larger layer. (it was intended for building bridges) The resin never completely dried.
The second, serious problem was that I didn't sand the individual layers of laminate. This meant that the layers didn't stick together.

The first idea to make a model of the fireboat Florian was in 2014. I made a model in 1:12 scale.n about 2019, I started making a large 1:7 model, but due to poor workmanship and "Covid 19" it didn't work. I stored the disassembled model for 4 years. An attempt to continue working didn't go well, the model wasn't laminated well, the individual layers didn't hold. I scrapped the construction and took a break for about 1 year. By chance, I found the original fireboat in the port in Prague. I was even able to board it. That encouraged me and I'm starting to work on the large ship again.

Poorly chosen lamination technology..This caused a break for 4 years. I scrapped the model and slowly started thinking about a second attempt - again and better, having learned.
The mistake was in using resin that was intended for use in thicker layers... So it didn't harden in my 3-5 mm layers...
I cancelled the model - except for the cabin / wheelhouse
