    Hi
Used to use a similar set up many moons ago. The Taycol is quite a high current motor and your dad used the dual capacitor to reduce the inevitable sparking when tyhe micro switches were opened and closed. After such a time length the capacitor may well have dried out and may not be that effective any longer, but perhaps this as well as the micro switches has been replaced. Looks nice and ship shape, much better than my efforts from that period.
There is a Taycol site on the web that gives lots of info about the motors and their control. Just Google Taycol.
    Good luck with the restoration

No 2 picture;power distribution runs navigation lights on a mast and lights in the foxtal
No 3 picture; power distribution runs navigation lights in the wheel house and rador motor .

    HI Cliff
I see you are doing a really good job on the restoration. You have managed to recreate the electrics of the early 1960's as designed by you dad and I look forward to seeing your model on the water.
The Taycol was a very powerful motor in its day and I see you have provided lots of battery power to feed it!?!

What size is the brass channel you have fitted to the transom? I am desperate for some with 10mm internal measurement.
