Aerokits 40" P.T. Boat restoration

started the strip down, as usual things aren't quite as good as they first looked, the propshaft, rudder, and scoop are set way too far aft. the shaft has been fixed In position with a pool of fibreglass and resin which fills the bay where the propshaft enters the hull about an Inch deep at the keel.
I may have to just cut out the old shaft with the angle grinder.. the old running gear has now been removed, the motor which still works Is manufactured by "Jaky" Its quite a sturdy piece of kit but not one I am familiar with. I don't think I will bother with the batteries either..
the boat has definately had a Diesel fitted at some time In Its early life, you can see the hole In the transom for the exhaust, and I can smell that "old diesel" smell now I have disturbed everything.
twin shafts and twin graupner 600's or twin enya 19's still not made my mind up.

id stick with the electric motors , less restriction on water you can play in ! most full size patrol boats Ive looked at have the shafts a long way back , with the rudders almost at the transom . best of luck with the restoration . jon

    David,
That black box with the red knob looks just like the controller we had for our 00 Hornby trains!
