would it be possible to build a ledgefor the base of the cockpit to sit on ? a thin bead of silicon could then be used to aid sealing . Ive several sailing vessels where Ive got hatches I dont need to remove very often where Ive applied a thin bead of gutter sealant , this doesnt set so remains reusable , also means your able to remove the hatch again ! !jon

as of last weekend the little titian tug boat has been fitted out with a new 400 brushed motor , a ripmax sd200 minI servo and a push/pull cable system to operate the rudder , motive power will be from a 7.2 volt pack split to sit either side of the propshaft . surreykev will finish the restoration and paintwork

the coaster had more than two coats of matt and polyester resin , however it does mean that we still have some of the fine tissue matting left , Ive also got around half a gallon of polyester resin and a little of that grey gel coat too , if your down this wekend and its not too damp I could coat it for you ? as for a motor Ive got a 400 with a gearbox , and escs like the one in sapper 44 are only ยฃ7 !

have you got any photos of the vessel in her current state , also showing where the sections are missing ? my sea rover hull has now had a couple of the bulkheads removed completly along with the extra thick keel strengthener . by removing them and rebuilding the superstructure in balsa instead of plywood Ive saved lots of weight

hI rooky , not running any cooling yet , didnt notice any problems after three 11.1 v lipos had been used , motor was warm but not too warm to touch . we do have a water inlet in the hull , which is connected to a screen washer pump plumbed currently to the forward monitor ( it will be plumbed into both when weve got a " Y " peice adaptor )

as a further update the model is almost completed , but is at least usable , its been tested twice this week at portsmouth , its now running a 600 low drain brushed motor direct to the single propshaft and turning a graupner 31 mm 2 blade carbon prop , mtroniks viper 25 amp esc ( fused 20 amp ) power is from a 11.1 volt 2200 lipo , run time per pack is around 15 mins

re suction hoses , Ive just made ours by using a section of sink unblocking snake (from tescos Aยฃ 1.27 ! ) stretched out and covered in 7mm heat shrink tubing before being heated / shrunk , the ends will be made up in brass tubing . jon

hadnt given any thoughts to marketing the fire monitors , but should others want some Im sure its not a problem . the colour scheme has been down to the boats owner SURREYKEV . as to its power , its got a low drain 600 brushed motor and wil run on a 11.1 v lipo , havnt run it yet apart from in the household test tank so not sure what its performance will be . jon

surrey kev has been back in portsmouth since sunday and has with some assistence been continuing the rebuild of his crash tender , most of the fittings have been fabricated ourselves including the operable fire monitors , all of the light fittings the mast and tow hook , hopefully over the next few weeks I will have bought some electronic switchers to make everything work from the transmitter !

the vessel has returned to portsmouth over the weekend for some assistance with its restoration , first task was to respray the black hull sides followed by the white superstructure , all of the navigation lights have been remade with super bright L E DS and brass housings . the window frame kit is now with me and in the process of being assembled before fitting onto the ss sides

may have to copy the nozzels we have , but turn some up in brass , we have already installed a 3mm pick up pipe through the bottom of the hull , the intention is to have at least the monitor on the forward roof panel working , as the engine room roof will conceal the motor drive batteries so will have a static unit .

yes rockysailor its the 34" version , Ive seen the set of white metal fittings from slipway but Im not a fan of white metal , I would prefere to use something thats not only lighter but will also work ? we will possibly fit either graupner or robbe monitors , if possible id like some hollow cowl vents , at least they would help get a little fresh air down to the motor , and draw some heat out again !

thank you dave , Ive managed to locate some nos moniter nozzles that Im hoping to be able to drill out for some piping to make working units , however the lower portion may have to be fabricated ? details such as the raised sections on both cabin roofs and the hatches are the next area to receive attention . jon
