The Katra a Thames craft tug

I was asked by an old friend of mine who is a total J P Knight 's tug fan if I could make the katra on an old JOFFRE TUG HULL on checking the size of the hull it worked out to exactly 1/24th scale 1/2" to the foot for the Katra , so here we go on a little build blog for her, the first pictures are the real thing, the one of her all in gray was taken during the war when they neede a small tug for work in invergordon Scotland , so they sent Katra.

Katra

first picture is the hull filled and sanded, then with the deck cut out and fitted and finally with a cardboard cut out superstructure ,this was made to get the shape and lines right as I was just working from photos and memory of the real tug.

Katra

At this stage the bulwarks and main casing are on and now made of ply ,the shaft and prop have been fitted along with the original rudder, but I change this later
