Hi Chris. Thanks for mentioning googling Humbrol paint quality. Some interesting comments. Some good and some not so good. Sounds like there had been some bad batches around. The tin I'm using is a bit thick and hasn't brushed the first coat on as evenly as I've experienced before. Wondered whether I could thin it a bit with white spirit because Humbrol thinners are very expensive. Has anybody had any experience of adding white spirit to Humbrol Enamel paint?

Hi Duncan - just remember reading a post on Mahem where some were saying that the quality had dropped. If you Google Humbrol paint quality it throws up a few comments.

Also complicated by Humbrol having to stop supply earlier this year and shops not being able to sell it as one of the chemicals, MEK, was banned on safety grounds, until the paints had been reformulated.

Don't know exactly where they are with that now and Humbrol is now under the HornbyAirfix banner. Would be good to hear from someone who has used the latest offerings.

I used Floquil on my trawler, nearly 40 years ago. I think the green is β€˜Pullman Green,’ since they dropped their Marine colors. When all was dry I shot it with a semi gloss clear spray.
