RSS Feeds... Who Uses Them??

Hi
Often wondered what use I could make of RSS. Now I know, and thanks. I have added this to my browser and it is really good. Pop up window appears when you hover the mouse pointer over a new topic and if you want to go to the website it is only a click away. I will also add Mayhem as I also visit. Great service, I recommend RSS to all Fireboat members

RSS Feeds... Who Uses Them??

Update

All finished!! Here is what I have done...

The standard RSS feed for everything on the website is:

http://modelfireboats.com/rss/

You can however customise it the way you want. For example, if you would like to show more than 8 of the most recent posts (say 20 instead) add "?amount=20" on the end of the link. Like:

http://modelfireboats.com/rss/?amount=20

To limit the feed to only show say photo gallery posts add "?show=photos" onto the end.

This can be customised further, so if you want forum posts as well add a "|" character in between like:

http://modelfireboats.com/rss/?show=photos|forum

The variables are:
[*]forum
[*]photos
[*]videos
[*]setups
[*]blogs
[*]responses
and can be listed in any order (must be lowercase) to filter only these feeds.

Finally... if for example you want to only show forum and photo gallery posts but have 20 of the latest ones listed you can format the link like:

http://modelfireboats.com/rss/?show=forum|photos&amount=20

If you have any trouble or questions send me a PM or reply below!

Please Subscribe!!... I would like to know if anyone uses RSS feeds too? Hopefully someone will reply to this!?...

I do hope the new feature will prove useful to some people though 😊

Thanks,
Fireboat 😎

RSS Feeds... Who Uses Them??

HI everyone!

I have recently been tinkering with the new RSS feed for the website (forum posts only at the moment) and would like to know what you all think?

For those who don't know a great deal about RSS It's basically a file that I place on this website which uses a standard format enabling you to access the latest Information (such as the newest forum posts) from other external resources.

This could be for example your IGoogle homepage, My Yahoo page, a live bookmark In your browser, be part of your Windows Vista Sidebar, Mac OS Dashboard, or even have It In an RSS screen saver! (If you want a truly fireboaty screen saver!)

It really means you will be able to see what's happening on the website live without having to actually visit It all the time. For forum posts for example you will see a list of subjects (similar to what Is on the homepage of this website) then when you click on the plus button next to It, It will show you a sample of the forum post that was posted and a link If you want to read more... of course the exact format depends on your RSS reader.

It will also Include blog updates, responses, photo/video gallery posts and new power setups In time.

Now I use RSS quite a lot for other Internet forums Including martins mayhem one and find them very useful, but I wonder... does anyone else use them?... and would you use this one?

The new RSS link for this website Is:

http://modelfireboats.com/rss/

Please Subscribe and let me know If you would use It!?
