It would seem that is correct, a Gulet is a traditional Turkish boat, the only reference to Canoa I can find says it is a swift Native American canoe. The only Portugese and or Maderia small fishing boats I could find on groogle are called Saveiro (small boat) or Lancha (small fishing boat)....
