Hi Ronald I did not know there were 4 variations of Mary Ann? I know the kit has been 'updated' but I thought mainly just in construction. Some of the old brass items are now laser cut wood.
I would like to know how they differ please?
regards
Roy

I believe it to be one of the four variations of the Mary Ann.

Doug, I did some research and it is not the Gitte as the Billings kit places the pilot house door in the center where the model in question, its door is front corner on both sides of the pilot house, nor is it the Norden.
The kit has a wooden planked hull a built in the 80’s.

Shucks🤔
Here's what I found when Googling Fishing Boat E714.
Even my boat sneaked in there somehow😮
Cheers, Doug

Hi Doug there was nothing in the 700 area at all.
Roy
Hi Roy,
Try E714 not 718!
BTW: Esbjerg is also famous for it's 'Flying Ships'😉
A flatbed scanner is the best way to get photos out of books.
You may need to experiment a bit with resolution and colour/B&W settings.
Cheers, Doug😎

Young at heart 😉 Slightly older in other places.😊 Cheers Doug
Roy, 'E' is the registration letter for Esbjerg on Denmark's North Sea coast.
Gina II, E714, was/is (?) also based there.
Most of these vessels seem to have been converted to Tour Boats, but there are still many around.
Cheers, Doug😎

Hi Doug in Munchen, that is a nice boat you are restoring! By chance I watched a film called Suicide Mission. It is plotted around these boats and must have been made just after WW2.
The unusual thing is the engine sound you really can hear them coming as it is more like a gas engine with staccato bangs from the exhaust. That feature is even mentioned in the plot to identify one.
I have a Naval Intelligence identification book issued to ships operating in the N. Sea dated November 1942 and there are several grainy B/W photos of the fishing boats.
In all the pictures it shows the large winch mounted fore and aft. Much more logical when you consider the arched net haulers where the trawl boards are located.
Also not to forget the buoy carried attached to the shrouds as this is part of the fishing system.
Regards
Roy

Hi all, yes it is a N. Sea fishing boat looks a lot like the Billing Mary Ann. The Mary Ann is numbered E 382.
I have 2 of them and so have got used to the detail. On the billing kit there is more detail on top of the cabin roof and the winch is different.
Pity about the labelled on / off switch on deck. They were to be found in Norway and Denmark and fished on the Dogger Bank.
Any indication on the length of the model?
The Billing kit is 22 inches loa. Was a price mentioned?

Mornin' Ron,
Deffo a North Sea fishing cutter!
Probably based on a Billing Boats Nordcap or Gina II, like the one I inherited and is in hand for a (protracted🤔) refit.
Cheers, Doug 😎

Ronald it looks a lot to me like a Clyde Puffer. The diesel exhaust pipe is in front of the wheelhouse & there is a fwd mast with crane boom. (I hav 2 under construction...well, actually, one is technically in drydock undergoing repairs)
Rod😀
Attached pic is typical, altho not one of mine
