Your "tower" looks fantastic! Amazing detail. I love it.
So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

That’s excellent, I struggled making the 1:30 tower for 2748, cheated and used carbon rod and lots of swearing.

Rogal118, wonderful to see all your antennas. Years ago my career required me to do ship inspections...very interesting to board salties & Great Lakes "lakers" to ensure safe radio communications. All done in the Harbour. Altho years ago I spent time on Coastguard vessels in the Detroit River

Fantastic work. Thanks for the tips and for sharing. Just a word of caution about using an accelerator to cure the super glue products is that it will diminish the ultimate strength of the joint. That should not be a problem in most cases but keep it in mine if you are trying to achieve maximum strength in a critical joint.

Boat tower parts

Good morning NickD,
As promised some photos of the parts I used to make my masts plus some of the tools used.I also have had success making parts out of pen bodies and tops as they come in all shapes and sizes.I’ve used the domed ends for tannoys, search lights, binicals, radar scopes on instrument panels, exhaust's, all sorts of things it’s surprising what can be utilised. Especially when the grandchildren have been drawing and have left dozens of felt tip pens etc over the years, so these have been raided quite a few times.
One tip I have found myself is when adding the very tiny webbings and flanges I have found it best not to try to get the size perfect straight away. Use a slightly bigger web glue in place then when set trim down to the correct size and shape required. I find it easier to handle a bigger piece that a 5mm x 2mm triangular shaped web.you maybe can manage but my eyes and sausage fingers can’t these days.
One thing I didn’t mention that I have found invaluable is supa glue accelerator, it just speeds up the setting time so you don’t have to hold the parts for as long.although it doesn’t stop you sticking your fingers to everything.
Hope this helps if I can help in anything else just ask.Good modelling. Roger.

Hi NickD. I forgot to say, yes the radar does rotate, powered by a small geared motor and a 1.5 v aa battery from component shop approx. £ 3.50. Fitted in the cabin and turning the radar through a .5mm rod up through the cabin roof.
