Air-PT or PT-Air

Thanks Rod, this come about from my many years of being a test equipment designer (electro-mechanical packaging, PBC layout, fixture design, etc.) and CAD systems specialist. This is why I utilize 3D modeling and printing in my boats and other stuff. Been reired over 26 years and still enjoying my past carreer in this wonderful hobby.

LewZ, I love it when you publish a schematic of your wiring. I can read schematics, but I'm just not a draftsman for my own projects. Of course it wud make trblshtng easier later on in the life of the vessel.🤞

Air-PT or PT-Air

Need a small speed control motor with forward and reverse? I built an RC 1/35 scale LCM-3 from a Trumpeter "static" kit. The whole boat is about 17 inches (432mm) long and the "engine compartment" is roughly 4-1/2 X 4 X 1-1/2 inches. In that compartment is the receiver, rudders servo and linkage, 4 AA cell batteries, and two independant motors with speed controls/reversing.

The motor and control are old (very old) Futaba servos with the gears removed. It runs great! Even the propellers were part of the kit but mounted on the short stuffing box shafts.

Given the limited space in this LCM, I'm sure that this method could power a PT boat, allbeit not very fast.

Deans marine sold an RC set for that scale and I saw him demonstrate a similar size boat.

Air-PT or PT-Air

This 1/72 PT boat is pretty small for rc but it could be an Air-PT

I took the small drone motor, shortening the prop to clear the water, and tried it in bathtub.

It works! I figure a micro servo to control the rudder and micro receiver will provide direction control. The motor will be either on or off, no speed control on these brushed motors.

Just playing around 😀
