Krick "Paula IV". On how to glue the Hull to the Deck ABS.

Hi. mek is very good you will not beat a weld for the strongest joint .it depends how wet your join is, on curing time anything from 2 seconds to15 seconds but remember mek can distaut plastics test on some scrap abs first. I repaired a split hull and deck made it strong and good as new take care hope this helps peter l 👍👍

Bruce

I can only speak for MEK which I blend myself with some dissolved ABS. I have used this mix for a number of years. You only get about 2 mins until it grips maybe even less time depending on the weather. However, it takes a few hours, at least, to achieve good strength. The result is that the join is truly welded and in many cases one of the components fails before the actual join.

I need Help with a Krick "Paula IV". On how to glue the Hull to the Deck ABS.
I've seen people suggest MEK And Plastruct Bondene (for styrene to Styrene and ABS to ABS)
What’s the working time for MEK? How do I get it in between the 2 surfaces which are about 1 1/2" in height.
Same question with using Plastruct Bondene. Working time is seconds.
I understand epoxies won't hold over long periods of time??? Epoxies have a longer working time that I can apply 1st to both surfaces then I can join the deck to the hull with clamps.
Once I get deck and hull joined it will be very difficult getting into hull area.
Thank you
