Thanks Mark, I will have a look, I need to get this sorted as I want to determine where to fit every thing in the hull.

Motor size help

HI Stan

My Amsterdam is on 24volts with a single T24 motor from Mobile Marine, I use an Electronize ESC, they are rated to 24volts and 40 amps, they are not the smallest but mine are possibly 15 years old, so good value, easy to set up, almost plug and play, ( single adjustment to align the full movement on stick and motor.

Electronize highly recommended

Motor size help

Looking at the johnson website I am sure the motor is rated to 18v, the diameter of the case is the same as they give for the 700series motors, shaft diamter is 5mm the same as specified, so I think I will go ahead and use this set up. I need a speed controler to suit now any advice please.

HI Mark

It is a johnson motor the type that goes into electric drills, I tried it out and it spun very fast, I will have to look on the website and see if I can find out more.

Do you know the make of the motor? if its the Graupner 750 this would take 18volts, so long as you don't load it down with a big prop, something like 40 - 45mm, no bigger.
Hook up to a watt meter and try not to exceed the motors max, probably about 65 watts.
Going to be trial and error, hull type, propeller and desired speed.
