Hi Fellow Sailors
The answers as promised:-
1. Sir Robin Knox-Johnston was the first person to sail single handed none stop around the in June 1968 to April 1969 on the Suhaili. Robin sailed around the world from west to east with the prevailing winds.
2. Joshua Slocum was the first to do it 'The Wrong Way Round', ie east to west but he did not do it none stop - in fact it took him three years and he had a stop off in Sydney. The name of his boat was Spray. The first person to sail around the world single handed none stop against the prevailing winds(ie east to west) was Chay Blyth in Bristish Steel - Blyth left Portsmouth (UK) during October 1970 and it took him 292 days. He wrote a book about his experiences on the voyage called the "Impossible Voyage"
Hope you found this interesting
Cheers
Pat

Hi Pat, 1. If you mean first single-handed NON-STOP circumnavigation of the globe - It was Robin Knox-Johnston in June1968 to April 1969 on the Suhaili. He was the only Golden Globe Race competitor to finish the course๐
2. Joshua Slocum was the first to do it 'The Wrong Way Round', because piracy scared him off sailing through the Mediterranean to use the Suez Canal, in Spray. So he went west to Brazil and then rounded Cape Horn, waiting there 40 days for storms to abate. There is no mention of the voyage being Non-Stop! It took him over 3 years.

Young at heart ๐ Slightly older in other places.๐ Cheers Doug
Hi Pat, since Antonio Pigafetta, Elcano, and the other Spaniards, Portuguese, and Italians made the first circumnavigation of the globe during Magellan's expedition, and therefore not solo, I'd say Joshua Slocum. I didn't understand the second question.
