Lionheart steam Turbine Boat

Lionheart Steam Turbine Boat

I have just purchased a model steam boat after seeing it on marketplace with the idea at some point of putting a steam plant in my large Steam Drifter.

I couldn’t make out the pictures on the advert but only being 2 miles from home I went for a look.

Turns out to be quite an interesting model and design and nicely put together.

She actually has a Wada Works Sabre 65 reversible steam turbine which from what I can gather is quite desirable and makes a lovely sound when the prop is turned.

The boiler I’m not sure about but appears to be a commercial item due to the stamping on the steam dome.

Also installed is a pitch adjustable propeller which I thought was a nice touch.

I don’t know anything about the hull but appears to be of good quality fibreglass and rather unusual choice for a steam boat.

Someone has spent quite some time developing the set up as I found a note tucked inside the hull with a list of what work was required to achieve design performance.

There are 3 jobs on the list that require attention

Enlarged gas jet for burner

Adequate feed pump to achieve 70lbs/in2

Redesigned larger bore exhaust system with condensate drain from turbine to reduce back pressure to minimum.

She came with a fan which appears to sit in the chimney but not sure of the reason behind this.

I would really like to see this up and running and if anyone can throw some light on her it would be greatly appreciated.
