That reminds me of when I was having a woodwork lesson at school(a very long time ago) when I went to pick up a plane that had been put down on it's side. My thumb went up the blade! Now that was bloody!
Obviously this leopard has not changed his spots even after 60 years!
Any one got a 16th century suit of armour going cheap?

My Dad was a "real" woodworker, you know, with chisels and mallets and spokeshaves, and stuff.
He always insisted that you should never try to catch things falling of the bench in case it was a chisel or a Stanley knife.
I never had the opportunity to stab myself in the foot though, but I did trip over the odd cabinet trying to get out of the way.

Thanks RN,
There wasn't a lot of blood, just a soggy sock! After the initial surprise and resulting exclamation a quick application of a sticking plaster or two and all was well. A bit of a limp for a few hours but all seems fine now, especially as I have now had my tetanus jab and got my "I've just been a brave boy" sticker from the nurse. Trouble is, putting the plaster on I twisted my knee and now have a problem driving my car!
I think I ought to retire to a dark room (preferably padded) for some time until this disaster time goes away.

The knife blade went in horizontaly somehow, straight through the leather, not the sole, into the side of the foot. No idea how.

I thought flip flops were the chosen footwear for the workshop maybe even a nice pair of toe posts or at a push a pair of sandals (no socks)

YOU SHOULD be wearing safety foot wear or at least stout shoes/boots anyway. The knives could have gone into your foot as they fell .Safety awareness at all times please

Warning

When all the bric a brac and miscellaneous "stuff" on your work bench accidentally takes a dive for the floor, find and pick up your knives first, otherwise your might find them later by standing on them. Tetinus jab booked for this afternoon! I feel a "Doh" coming on.
