In the 1950s I went to the IoW on a paddle steamer which I think was called SS Princess Elizabeth. That was the only one I can remember and she sailed from Portsmouth to Ryde pier..

My great uncle John Bell built this boat sometime around 1900. He was a watchmaker in Cowes, IOW and was an aircraft mechanic in the Royal Flying Corps. He died in 1917. The boat came to the U.S. in the 1920's when his sisters emigrated. It has a two cylinder steam engine. It has been in the family all these years and it's always been a mystery if this model is of a specific boat or just a generic representation of a channel steamer. We assume it would have been one that worked out of the Isle of Wight. I've looked at numerous pictures online and seen similar boats, but most seem to be proportionally longer than this one. I'd appreciate any help in identifying it but realize it's a long shot. Thanks Dave
