Searching "Aluminum" deep throated Clamps
I haven't tried these but I do have their One Handed Clamps which I find very useful and well made, like all their tools. Axminster is my first port of call when looking for tools and as I pass their shop on my way home from the lake, I frequently call in just to buy some Titebond or even have a look around.
Cheers,
Nerys

I see what you are doing now.
If you cut out the "C" shape as deep as you require in thin wood then at one end glue a small block of wood on to both sides, allow to dry then drill a hole through insert a long bolt and place a nut on.
then use it the same way as your clamp in the photo.

Google them and search for a supplier near you - not sure if Model Expo stocks them - but most hobby shops there should have them.

If you look in the hints and tips i posted some clamps using bulldog clips and paper clips.
But if you are unable to get a clip in the only other way i know is to cut out a "C" shape out of some thin wood and then use some small wedges to put the pressure on just tap them in until you are happy that they are clamping as you want them to.
