What hull are you building Sapot - looks like pretty good work . How about a build blog - always interesting to see what others are doing - learn a lot from them too - and sometimes even useful comments.........

Searching "Aluminum" deep throated Clamps

Axminster have a 'Deep Throat G Clamp'. They are described as being light but I imagine they are steel, not aluminium. There are two sizes 50mm x 90mm at £5.20. and 75mm x 120mm at £7.99.
I haven't tried these but I do have their One Handed Clamps which I find very useful and well made, like all their tools. Axminster is my first port of call when looking for tools and as I pass their shop on my way home from the lake, I frequently call in just to buy some Titebond or even have a look around.

Cheers,
Nerys

Hi,
I see what you are doing now.
If you cut out the "C" shape as deep as you require in thin wood then at one end glue a small block of wood on to both sides, allow to dry then drill a hole through insert a long bolt and place a nut on.
then use it the same way as your clamp in the photo.

Thanks, I have many DeWalt (about 30) 6-inch clamps. I hope attached image shows better than what I am trying to describe. The image show one of my aluminum 3-inch throated c-clamps.
There are metal/ iron clamps but they are too heavy.
Thanks, will continue my quest.....Si

Checked Google - Model Expo does have some 4" ones - not quite the same quality but only $3.99 each. Worthwhile subscribing to their newsletter always have bargains with free postage in the US.

What about quick one hand type slide clamps - I have some called Quick Grip by American Tool - very light - small size opens up to about 6" throat , very small blued steel bar with clamps and handle made from what looks like carbon fibre. Ideal for planking - they have been invaluable to me - come in larger sizes as well.
Google them and search for a supplier near you - not sure if Model Expo stocks them - but most hobby shops there should have them.

Searching "Aluminum" deep throated Clamps

Hi Sapot,
If you look in the hints and tips i posted some clamps using bulldog clips and paper clips.
But if you are unable to get a clip in the only other way i know is to cut out a "C" shape out of some thin wood and then use some small wedges to put the pressure on just tap them in until you are happy that they are clamping as you want them to.

Clamping plank on frame, but sometimes need the C-clamp to reach in deeper. Does not require too much pressure, just until Wood glue sets.

What is it that you wish to clamp ?
And dose it need a lot of pressure ?

Searching "Aluminum" deep throated Clamps

I've been searching for very light weight "Aluminum" deep throated C-Clamps. I can get iron/metal, but they are too heavy. I have even drilled holes on the frames of the C-Clamps to make them lighter in weight. I need 3"-to 4" deep c-clamps. I bought Guitar Bridge Clamps, but the are too big and weighty.
