Just saying hello

Just an idea. Made Flower class with RC and for battery and motor/electronics access I cut the deck at a convenient point and glued Balsa strip under the edge of new hole. Then drilled 3mm pockets in balsa for - Magnet Expert® 3mm dia x 1mm thick N42 Neodymium Magnet - 0.19kg Pull ( Pack of 50 ) - £3.99 from Amazon UK, glued in magnets and added tiny pieces of tin(from bean cans!) to base of removed deck. I also stuck some self amalgamating tape to edge of hole for extra seal. The magnets hold extremely well but a little slip can lift the deck edge enough to start disengaging each magnet from it's tin counterpart. Not sure if this is doable on your build, but on my Flower it withstood (totally non scale speed run!) full power on local boating lake with no leaks. Hope it gives a bit of an out for the issue.

Ok I will take on board any advice
Question though
If I attach to the deck how would you change the battery?

I get what you mean and why
Just can’t seem to workout how I would do it without sealing off the hatch if I do attach to the deck

Or do you mean cut coamings to where the edges are?

I did think about it
But thought it would be too much of a speed boat lol

It guides along nicely
Maybe the next one I might try a twin

"Part built "
So far so good Mike👍
Shame you didn't go for an original true twin screw set up though.
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS A word to the wise though!
I would detach those coamings from the hatch decks and glue them permanently to the main deck. Only then can they properly serve their purpose.
Namely; to prevent ingress of water to the interior!
Your choice, your risk!😉

"It’s actually frames with ply sides "
Didn't doubt that for one minute Mike.
Very like my balsa built H Class destroyer HMS Hotspur.
She was scaled up to 1/72 from the Airfix 1/600 kit when I was about 15. A fiddly job!
If you need any help with the superstructure let me know.
I built mine twice!
First using 1/16 balsa, second (about 20 years later) using 0.5mm ply on 1/8 square obeche frames. Nowadays I might use plasticard😉 Crew was shanghaied from my Airfix 1/72 8th Army and Afrika Korps soldiers. Cap'n on the bridge is/was a Panzer Kommandant😉
I also glass fibred the original weak 1/32nd balsa hull and upgraded the original tiny Mabuchi motors to a pair of Graupner 540s and added full RC during that refit.

Way to go adi👍
Looking forward to the rest when you've got the move behind you.
That third pic looks like how my very first destroyer started out, when I was about ten.
A dirty great chunk of 4x4 and lots of sawing, chiselling and planing.
Under my Master Carpenter Grandad's supervision of course😉
