    Thanks for the tips JB.
I do believe it is genuine.
I have seen the copies available.Even the genuine ones have
variants, including different balance ports, which can catch out anyone.
The genuine ones do have a hologram.

Assuming your charger has the internal power supply? Had one of my charger's apart a while back but cant remember if it had an internal fuse,-that one was a GT Power A6 charger which has a B5 board (same thing but 5A output) and was supposed to have a USB update port but didn't. Sounds like everything else is working except battery power in. Taking these apart is a mission as the buttons are fitted after the component tray is slid in and are too hard to get out without breaking.

There are lots of copies of this charger and it's hard to tell if they are the genuine Sky RC versions without having a known genuine one to compare internals. The copies work ok but aren't as accurate or reliable as the genuine ones. Early versions with the internal power supply had issues with the power supply overheating so just keep your eye on it. Can you try it on PB, NiMH, Li-ion etc and see if it works on those batteries?

    Continuing the saga:
The charger has a battery test facility.
This shows a) total voltage 3.7V rather than the 11.1 to be expected.
This seems to explain the "no battery" message, because the charger is looking for the 11.1v to be expected from 3S.
However when the battery is metered,it shows 11.1V. This
suggests to me that the charger is not detecting two of the cells.I can only now get a new charger and hope I am correct!
    Thanks for all replies.

    Thank JB,
    All settings correct.
    Tried different charge modes.
Metered battery right up to banana plugs, also across each cell on balance lead. ????????! If I do not connect balance lead,it says
    "connection error".Connect balance lead " no battery".Just don't
Know.charger is powered on AC lead,230V.

Hi, might sound like silly questions, but are you plugging in the balance lead and the main plug and is the correct battery type selected in the 'user set' section (along with time and capacity) ? Is the correct battery and number of cells selected in the main LiPo menu.? Just a suggestion, always balance charge your batteries,- helps to make them last longer. Let us know all the settings you are inputting which might help us identify the problem. Usually the 'no battery' indication means there is a break between the battery and charger (ie not plugged in properly or perhaps a dud plug.)

It's pretty hard to damage these chargers as they have a number of safety features to tell if you have done something wrong, also they are probably one of the most common chargers around and are generally pretty reliable and this sounds a bit unusual. Also is there enough input voltage to power the charger (at least around 12v 5A normally)

    Hi Rick,
The case is that the battery is more expensive than the charger!
