    Hi Guys,
Joe 727 is doing a blog in his yacht.
Maybe there is some information there or you could contact him to see if he could help.

Here is the link to his blog.

    Hello Clive,

I am happy to share any info I receive. My main problem is space and how to get into it, but I am sure someone will come up with the answer.

    Cheers
    John

Hi Clive, I have found that a length of greased silicon fuel tube does the trick, or a set of rubber bellows such as these, from Ali Express.

Hello John, Please may I share any info you get for your R/C query?
I'm building a model of pilot cutter Jolie Brise & seem to be at about the same stage as yourself . At present my thought is to put all the electrics in a purpose built polcarb box; a problem will be glands for rods/cords - would passing the rod/cord through a pin hole in a 'window' of thick rubber (car tyre inner tube?) do the job?

Look forward to ideas from those who have done it! I'm trying to make everything (except things like servos) from basic materials - which I think I've managed so far.

    Regards....Clive

Thank you for your reply. I have attached some photos which I hope assist. My problem is siting the servos, battery and receiver where they can be easily got at and waterproofed.
I look forward to hearing peoples views.

There are many people on here able to give you information on the RC installation on your yacht.
However, if you are interested, I can give you some information about the original ocean racing yacht on which your model is based.
She was designed by American yacht designer Olin Stephens and built in 1931. She was skippered by Olin in her first year who then handed her over to his brother Rod. They were part of the very succesful American yacht design company, Sparkman and Stephens. I think it fair to say she was the most successful ocean racer of her day. Rigged as a Bermudan Yawl, she was 52ft long, 37ft3 on the waterline, 10ft3 beam and 8ft draught. In 1931, she won the Transatlantic race from Newport, Rhode Island to Cowes IOW, beating her larger competitors by three weeks. She then won the Fastnet race and sailed back to America, In 1932, she won the Bermuda race in her class. In 1933, she sailed the Atlantic to England and won the Fastnet race., then back to America. She is also known for a water trap type ventilator versions of which is still in use today.

    Cheers, Nerys

When the winds before the rain, soon you may make sail again, but when the rain's before the wind, tops'l sheets and halyards mind
