If you have a pattern of a hull bulkhead use it or there are other methods to create a pattern. Make it about a quarter inch, oops 5mm, larger than needed. Then glue foam rubber to the frames shape.

Yes, take GI Joe's weapon away from him and he becomes quite different. I've found that adapting other figures, cutting bits off and adding bits on is as good a way of acquiring crew as any. It's often difficult to find ready made figures that are exactly what we want. Lesterville reminds me very much of the old naval picket boats we used to see flitting around in the vicinity of Chatham dockyard.

A G.I Joe figure works for a skipper after carving off the weapons...applied some painting too. The Lesterville will get masts, hand rails and single post Bollards later this week.

Martin, I have made patterns from the current sides, fore and aft sections as the second must fit the coaming. Any ballast issue will be slight.

Hi Ron,
Will you have to re-ballast depending on the superstructure that you decide to use at the time ?

Painting the Lesterville

I am making two superstructures of this Ville class tugboat, the Lesterville is currently in Port Dover, Ontario and is a white and yellow scheme. The other will be the Beamsville currently in Tofino, B.C. and has a paint scheme of red and white.

The decks are both grey, though the Beamsville skipper sent me photos of the stern and his is different than the Lesterville. I will adopt features from both, though the hatch in the stern, must stay as it houses my rudder double control horn.

Beamsville also has white bulwarks which I will keep versus all black of Lesterville.

The cap on the bulwarks are made from the plastic hanging basket hangers found in your local gardening store. They work great for railings too.
