"your welcome to take the point away"
No need to take the hump Brian.
Just think a little more about what it is that you are trying to tell us and show us.
Remember; a picture tells a thousand words😉

Hi Brian,
Very pleased to see that you decided to go for an 8mm tube👍
That leaves you some 'meat' to play with for bushes/bearings😊
If you use a 6mm running tube with a 4mm drive shaft, as some have advocated, that only leaves you 1mm to play with for outer tube and bearings. Not a lot☹️ Resulting in a comparatively flimsy arrangement that I would only want to use for very short shafts at low revs. If at all.
Personally I would regard 3mm as the absolute max diameter of a shaft in a 6mm outer, and then only for short e.g. >/=6" or so shafts.
That's my humble twopenn'orth anyway.
Wonder whose shafts / bearings will last longest 😁
Happy building👍
Stay safe🤞

I heartily agree Martin👍
Such text posts are pointless (apart from ranking points🙄) without the associated pics and some explanation of HOW!

Brian, some set-ups use a small washer, then a nut, last a threaded prop. Other set-up is the washer, then a “Dog”, a prop then a lock nut.

Hope these images help.

found out when ordering prop shafts you only measure the tube and the thread sticks out approx 12 mm

Shouldn’t the stuffing box be put in place before this point in the build? He will have to mark and cut through the keel to get the angle correct.

So far so good Brian,
Good idea 💡 to fit the propshaft etc before skinning the hull👍
Very wise😇
