One way of finding a tool (for me) is to buy a new one then store it somewhere and that will be where the old one will be. Lew

Look what I found in my workshop(shed) this morning ! I have been using-up my supply of old glues and the JP aliphatic still works OK, but it really does leave quite a dirty yellow stain. Although I used to use this glue quite a lot in the past, I don't remember it being quite this dark a colour, but I don't have much left before I start on the next opened bottle of PVA that I used when building my Kopy Kommander. Luckily the areas that I am using this glue in will either be hidden or out of sight when the boat is finished. As you can see, I have not cut-out the bulkhead (Frame 2) as it is so close to the blunt nose ( Frame 1) and given one of the boats intended uses (recovery) I may even add a couple of additional braces in this area between these two Frames to further reinforce the blunt nose as it will become the mount for the "pusher plate" when I get around to adding one at a later date. One of the two 4mm brace's that I cut to fit on either side of the 4mm flat bow former can be seen in the bottom left of the picture. These will be fitted next before I make the templates for all the other bulkheads (Frames) and transom. These are a lot of bulkheads (Frames) in this fairly short 30" long boat (8 including the transom), so this is going to be one very strong and twist free little boat. Bob.

    Workshop
Hi Phil. I had the satisfaction of doing the very same in my new home, it took a while to get it exactly the way I wanted it and I'm very pleased with the end results. And I'm now back to building models instead of 'new house DIY' ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘. Robbob.

    When space runs out .....
On the back of reading all the posts since my last one (thanks for sharing, all of you, not only entertaining but thought provoking as well - I have two grandkids now, Amelia just 3 and Greer 8 months, so perhaps some boat naming needs to happen....), and bearing in mind Will's comments re the 'real' boat count, I've just asked my wife how many pairs of shoes does she own. Guess what, she mysteriously 'doesn't know' ๐Ÿค”, but when I asked if it was over 30, she kind of sheepishly avoided the question, acknowledging there were " lots, but I don't wear them all...and sometimes give some away...". ๐Ÿ˜‰ All I know is there are boxes and boxes of them in our wardrobe. Nuff said!๐Ÿ˜ Nick

    Surpass ESC Problem?
The Rocket RC program card to use with my Surpass 120A ESC has now arrived. As soon as the paint has dried on the underside of my Sea Commander, I will get it connected and make any adjustment needed to work on 2C and adjust the lowest residual voltage setting to prevent any more LiPo batteries getting run out completely. The program card is aimed mainly at r/c cars, so a lot of the advanced settings are not really applicable for use in a boat, but I will have a play with it anyways as it is the correct card for use with my ESC. Words of Wisdom
Hi EdW, I'll just jokingly tell you this: the period in which dinosaurs arose, evolved, and then disappeared is the Mesozoic Era (divided into three eras: Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous). This period lasted about 186 million years. It's estimated that dinosaurs (excluding birds) lasted 165 million years. Humans (Homo sapiens) have been on earth for only 300,000 years; the genus Homo has been on earth for 2.5 million years. Hominids appeared about 4 million years ago. In short, I'd be cautious with dinosaurs; for now, they're winning by a landslide (165 to 4). We can surpass them, but that remains to be seen, hahaha.

    Sound Units
Hi Pat, In UK your absolute best bet is 'Action Electronics' at 'Component Shop'. They have a good selection of engine sound as well as honkers , pingers, tooters, bells and whistles๐Ÿ™‰๐Ÿ˜ In another category you can also find suitable RC switches. See attached links. Cheers, Doug๐Ÿ˜Ž PS The jargon book never turned up๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜  https://www.componentshop.co.uk/action-electronics/other-sounds.html https://www.componentshop.co.uk/action-electronics/engine-sounds.html https://www.componentshop.co.uk/action-electronics/switches.html

    Dickie harbour tug
Progress is a lot slower than I wanted. I've got a load of lights working on a switch, and a little water pump to replace the faulty one in the boat. I need to see if it works OK. I've got it to operate on the transmitter trainer button, so grandson will need to press the button to get the hydrant to pump water. Thus will stop him having it permanently on๐Ÿ˜ annoyingly the water pump is mounted a few millimeters too high, so this will need to be altered. It took a lot of messing around to get the pump to work. I've made up a switch, a servo arm moves, and makes the circuit, simple really, but a load of faffing around.

CONSTRUCTION OF A CASE FOR DISPLAYING A SCALE MODEL SHIP
"You have to learn to compromise so that domestic harmony isn't disrupted too much!" Very wise words, Mike. You're right to preserve your nation; I wish we could do it a tenth as well as you do. However, Samba is an imported wood, it doesn't grow in Italy as far as I know. Congratulations on your perfect Italian.

Model Boat Builders in the Redcar area.
Yes, at least I was a member way back in the days when it had the use of the building at the lake side,(a club-house come meeting point.) Which was then reclaimed by the council and fitted out as a cafรฉ. These days it seems to have somehow resurrected itself from the ashes, and has a few members who tend to gather on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, especially if the weather is decent and the lake has water in it. To the uninitiated non locals, the lake uses sea water and can be pumped in at high tide, or out as required. I believe at this moment of time ongoing repairs are finally complete and it is all sorted and ready to go.

    Frustrating tis absolutely Frustrating
Sometimes you just have to wander around the boat yard. I wanted to fit GM DSS radomes on a couple of relatively modern tugboats and other work boots. I was at bluffers in Scarborough the other day and found this derelict Radar Arch. For the radome i used a KINDER SURPRISE

She broke my boat: People don't listen to "HANDS OFF"
Oooooh! And I have been sticking my hands down there. Have not seen any snakes around this pond (about 100 meters in diameter). A gator about every 3 or years until the park relocates them. Water moccasins are known to be in the much larger Lake Seminole causing some concerns with water skiers. Heck, this is Florida so we expect to see some of these critters around. Not as much as we had years ago as Florida is now the third most populated state in the U.S. Lew

Modello RC scala 1/60, di piroscafo armato a goletta, liberamente ispirato alle cannoniere classe US
Yes, Ross, I'm sure about the term "Bigotta" (with one G). I have no doubts because the website of the Amati shipbuilding company (specializing in static naval modeling) also lists them in English in its catalog. However, the "rubbing strake" (which started the discussion) is not an item for sale; it is simply made using a strip of wood that is thicker than the other planking in the hull. In real construction, it is an integral part of the planking; in modeling, for ease, it can be applied after the hull is finished, not while it is being built.
