Just wondering what the end result is you are trying to achieve? Is it for a purpose other than sail control? Might another solution be a 3D printed spool?

How to secure acccess deck covers /hatches
Bill is the Blu Tack you are referring to the same as this shown? Key details regarding Blu Tack and water: Water-Resistant Properties: It is a non-soluble, synthetic rubber compound that can withstand exposure to moisture without breaking down immediately. Best Use Case: While water-resistant, it is designed for, and performs best on, clean, dry surfaces. Limitations: While it resists water, it is not designed to be a permanent, fully submersible waterproof sealant, but rather a reusable adhesive for holding items in place, even in damp environments. Composition: It is denser than water and is non-toxic. Wikipedia Wikipedia +4 Note: Some product listings may specify it is not for high-moisture/submerged applications, but for general, daily, non-porous applications. Bostik

    Decent quality BRASS FITTINGS.
Can anyone out there in the ether help me to find some decent quality brass fittings, as in fairleads and bollards for my current open launch. It would appear that all my current sources are no longer trading, and everything available appears to be plastic. If anyone out there can help me out I shall be forever grateful. Regards, Gary.

I have considered both methods Chris. The wood strip has to be bent across its width, so maybe some saw cuts would be best as it is not the natural way for the wood to bend. When In get out to the workshop(shed) later I will take a look at it again. Interesting that it may not be necessary though............ Bob.

    KD Perkasa Class Drawings.
These drawings are over 6ft long Will (!), but the boat is 50 1/2" overall so it is probably the same 1/24 scale as yours. I am trimming away the 'selvage edges" so reduce the size and weight for posting it to EdW without loosing any of the actual drawings size. Bob.

    Upcoming Projects
Sprite Plus. The picture was taken before I splashed some sanding sealer over the balsa, but it was hairy. I thought it may have been hairy because I used my Perma-Grit tool to shape it with, but subsequent sanding with fine sandpaper did very little to improve it. After the first coat of sanding sealer, the surface looked much cleaner and when sanded between coats, and the surface stayed smoother. Bob.

    two or one
A couple of days ago "Chugalone100" asked, "In a twin-motor arrangement, is a throttle mixer required to properly coordinate differential thrust control, or can this be managed directly through transmitter programming?" For many years the connection between the radio receiver and the servo, or motor controller has had three wires, these are conventionally coloured black for the 0 volts line, red for the nominally 5v line and white for the pulse. This is the way my torpedo boat destroyer is configured. The white wires for the two 'up-down' sticks are connected to a single pole double throw microswitch, one channel to the normally closed contact and the other to the normally open contact. The common is connected to the starboard motor controller, the left stick is also connected to the port motor controller. A servo connected to any other channel operates the microswitch. So in one position of the microswitch the motor controls are connected and both motors are controlled by the left stick. In the other servo position the two motors operate independently. The rudder is operated conventionally by the right stick left-right. The two extra proportional channels on my FlySky FS-I6 rotate the forward gun and the torpedo tubes. My USS Melvin (Lindberg kit) has a different system. Up-down on the left stick controls the power to both motors, left-right on the left stick controls the balance between them. So I stop both motors and put the stick over one motor will run ahead and the other astern. The motor control is a home designed and home built job. I built the USS Melvin in 1979 when I was home on leave from the British Merchant Navy. Since the only fault has been a failure of one power transistor. I normally run the USS Melvin on my 4 channel Futaba transmitter but sometimes on either of my 6 channel Futaba transmitters. There are other ways of doing it.

    decals
Billj, You should create your design in AutoCAD before printing your decals. This makes it much easier to control scale, proportions, and alignment. How about customizing or making your own original decals? These are the products I use to make my decals. 1. Before using the decal paper, always run a test print on regular paper to check size, alignment, and any adjustments until youโ€™re satisfied. 2. Once everything looks right, print the final version on the decal paper. 3. After printing, apply three to four light coats of Krylon Crystal Clear, allowing adequate drying time between coats. This seals the ink and prevents it from running when the decal is applied. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    LesRo Javelin (2).
Super Rapier. As a matter of interest, a friend of mine on another model boat forum described my Super Rapier design update as a "floating gin palace" - so presumably he thought it looked a bit "swanky". My aim was to try to update the superstructure to look a little better "suited" to the excellent hull shape that works so well as this "pointed hull" design is now quite a current shape on many of the upmarket power boats Bob.

    Testing LED diodes
Hello Mates, Just adding my two cents, In my some of my boats that have multiple LED lights (Mt Washington, Seguin) I use boards that step down the voltage. The reason being multiple lights can be powered from one source. if they are of the same voltage. On my HO train layout, I use boards as I have multiple lights. some boards have three voltage outlets. Some of the boards are adjustable so I can control the output, as in my carnival rides. The railroad passenger cars that I have installed LED lighting in, I have used resistors because of their cost and size. I do admit that I have limited knowledge on the subject, although I do find it fascinating. Trev

Why do we still use Knots Go Question for todays Question
๐ŸŒŠ Why โ€œknotsโ€ exist at all Before engines, sailors measured speed using a log line: A rope with knots tied at regular intervals A wooden board (the โ€œlogโ€) tossed over the stern Sailors counted how many knots passed through their hands in a set time Each knot represented one nautical mile per hour. The name stuck โ€” and the unit turned out to be extremely practical.

    Is this site running slow?
One thing that is still happening is that topics are still very slow to open if at all if trying to access via Trending Topics. Not a biggie as can be started via the relevant heading e.g. Build Blogs.

    Clinker Style kit
I did break a couple though when I caught them with my hand, was able to glue the back together. It was a very satisfying build, well designed kit and all goes together nicely. Full instructions are at the bottom of the webpage linked below. Heโ€™s sold all 100 first run of Seagulls, they all went in 3 or 4 days. https://www.clydemodeldockyard.com/shop/p/clinker-boat-model-kit

My Saint Pierre Dory has improved lights
Continuing to work with those LED lights, I tried snipping several from a line of lights that are waterproof. Once scrapping the coating off, the positive and negative wires were identified and marked. Using three of these micro lights, they were installed to the roof of the wheelhouse, adding an amber coating, a 470R in the line, it looks much better. The small spotlight was replaced with a taller better beam. Keeping the tiny nav lights on a pair of AA batteries which work very well. The LED lights are wired in to use the BEC.

Good to hear it was found in time Luckyduck. We men tend to be a dismissive of illness but from my own experience, prostate cancer can creep up on you. Success rates, if found early enough, are well in excess of 90% I understand, but vary from case to case. Please don't take a chance and end up being a statistic.

Scratch built paddle boat project for sale.
Scratch built paddle boat project for sale. This is a project that I received from a friend and cannot complete this as I have to many other projects. Many hours went into this project with research and building as it needs to be completed. The hull is 42 inches long and the beam is 12 ยพ inches wide. The hull is plank on frame and has been fiberglass. There is a 12-volt electric motor that has been geared down (with a cogged belt) that connects to the two arms that would move the paddles. The paddle wheel has not been made so you would have to make it. There are a bunch of drawings and info on these types of boats, so the research has been done. The cabins are almost complete and there is a cardboard template to make the deck/roof between the two cabins. Price for this boat project is $165.00 Pick up only/delivered within 50 miles, location Northern NJ USA

Glad youโ€™ve solved the problem. Now weโ€™re ready to see some in-water photos.๐Ÿ‘ BTW, I would also put one drop of blue Locktite on the shaft. Once, I neglected to do that & lost a R.H. prop while backing down even though the prop was tightly screwed to the shaft. Duhh!
