this one is the sister ship to the Anglian man of mobile marines.Used as an estuary dredger to disturb the silt by a plate along the bottom of the channel off the a frame at the back. I was dead lucky to win best on stand for hoylake model boat club at Haydock Park 2013.

built this one after the first one was stolen which has turned out for the better. Has working fire monitors, anchor, bow thruster, sounds, searchlight, lightsand a bloke on the back having a wee, which in turn acts as a bilge pump to tell me there is water in the boat

Hi I am just starting to build a Vosper fire tender using Robbe fire moniotrs. I already nixed the vertical motion but is there any other recommendations you would make before I go any further?
Thanks
Martin

Wonderful hobby! I live 1800 miles from my Dad! Will be seeing him this week in Seattle, we're going to Tacoma for reference photos of the AlkI Fireboat, it's in dry dock on display, can finally capture the below water line details! Pop is "onboard" with the outing!

This is my granddaughters springer. 18x8 inch, 4 inch rudder, 540/1, 6v sla, with a35 three blade brass prop, she's only 4 so if you come to sail on our pond, give her plenty of room. The safety part of it ,is she has a 10mm flashing red led on the top. Sorry I dropped on my last post

Electric, 555 motor on 7.4 lipo, with a 35 mm three blade brass prop, the run times about 120 mins. She cuts through the water well, even going astern. Half of the plan was missing, so l can'nt say what the model is called.

Greetings from Hollywood, California. 😎 Many thanks to David Metcalf at Metcalf Moldings for his advice and for so graciously replacing parts I messed up. This craft has been swimming pool tested (after all we're in Hollywood) and it ran beautifully. Next stop is the local pond. I chose brass counter-rotating props. Those are lithium batteries tucked under the sides. I chose to recut the decks out of wood. Brits rave about plastic but I found it difficult to cut and forget about sanding down the edges. (I guess if you cut it properly you don't need to sand the edge.) Major mistake: watching a You Tube video that told me I should make brass joints using a Propane torch. it will make a good joint but it MELTS ALL THE OTHERS. There was a lot of learning here for me and thanks to David's fine kit I think I'm somewhat of a better model builder.

Nice model, very neat electrics, well done.
How come an American builds and English lifeboat?
By the way its contra- rotating props, but if you have a swimming pool as a test tank you must take some criticism, its OK I am only jealous.
My first attempt at a model boat was a scratch built Rother
at one inch and a quarter to the foot, a big buggar and heavy it had a car battery for power and ballast.
Cheers

It looks great - I am just starting to build one. Do you have any recommendations on the fire monitors? I am going to use Robbe and make them rotate.
Do you find the twin motors too much ?

I made my own from bits of tube and old coins for flanges. The nozzle is just sleeved down with progressively smaller tube till it squirted about right. Pump is a standard grapnel unit. Hopefully this link to a photo blog will work. https://picasaweb.google.com/102817163504371499744/RAFCrashTenderModelBoatBuildKitshack46InchVersion
The link will give you details of the motors and speed controllers and the props I used. it's quick!
