At long last the new Dry Dock is completed, we now need a new centre piece for the dining room table. It needs to be something interesting to provoke conversation, which the models have done quite regularly.
All I have to do now is finish the rest of the stuff that is not in camera shot!!!
43ft schooner sounds good, but I only hold an Intermediate Powerboat ticket these days. Cannot be doing with all the sticks and string stuff, it its to much like hard work, I usually ended up on the mainsheet!! So i now tend to do only the turn key stuff, only challenge there is the fuel!!!!!
Like the guys in the States John, who use compressed air cannons to fire 1/4" ball bearings at each other's ships! 😮🤕 Until there's only one left afloat - or sort of!
😎
The big one's just silly, it ain't got no rod holders or bait board, or rowlocks for that matter. how's he going to escape when she's scuttled, in a mini tug? Better watch out for the Kiwis in their mini Archilles with her NZ SS1 fire control radar and foils, could be deadly on foam and plywood!
Actually Ian I meant Nerys' 43 foot schooner! 😁 and 11 other boats!!
😎
BTW I plan to do much the same for some of my ships on the wall in the hall.
Gotta repaint the wall first though!
Why do 'To Do' lists always get longer but never shorter!?☹️
😎
Actually not long at all as it is a propriety modular shelving system. You have a singe horizontal rail that, in this case has 12 No12 x 38mm CSK screws walked inn to the 44mm cabin wall. Then just add the hangers and the shelf supports to fit the size of vessel. Sorted!!
Hi Ian, You mean Peasholme Park Naval Warfare! https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=peasholm+park+battle
It's still going.👍
There was a discussion about this on this site a year or so ago.
Search for Peasholme Park in the forum and you should find it.
I posted some pics and a video of it.
Commentary is a bit 'naff' but the ships are fun 😁
Cheers, Doug 😎
Yeah, that would work. But I do feel I may have to cheat with that one as a Ship in a Bottle may just be pushing my size envelope a little.
I have however been reminded of a christmas gift from a nephew. A Haynes V8 Petrol Engine. One of these clear plastic working models. That would be a good fit for me as in a past world I did my Mechanical Engineering training with a diesel and gas turbine engine making company.
They actually bring back memories of many, many years ago when on holiday in Scarborough and we visited the Naval Battle in Peshocme Park, still running I think, where they had "Man Ridding Models"
Now that one I do like. Reminds me of happy days in the early 70's when the guys on the Genevoise Jig borers used to bring in their R/C gear and scare the hell ut of the office girls with R/C controlled rats, and poppies that would track you, Great fun.
So with todays clever gear we could do it with voice control, no hands just a key word or two and you have a snapping fish!!!
Wow! Respect Nerys👍
You must have had a helluva job fixing them on the wall!😮
Ah! I know - Alice did it 😂
Greetings from 'Sleepless in Munich' to 'Sleepless in Ammanford'!
I often think that some model makers could rival P & O as regards the number of vessels they own, albeit smaller in scale.
I must admit that at one time many years ago, I owned 12 'real' boats ranging from coracles and praam dinghies up to a 43ft schooner which I had built myself.
"I am open for ideas guys.if any one wishes to chip in."
I guess it would need to be long and thin, to leave space for eatin' time!
So how about something like a Barracuda that opens it's jaws, rolls it's illuminated eyes and wags it's tail on command from under the table switches!? 😁
Very nice Ian 👍
I didn't 'bung up' the dining table though, not big enough!
So I put my 1:128 Graf Spee, the longest in my collection at 145cm (57"), on a glass shelf at the end of the table.
My Graf is a little more manageable than the one in the other two pics though!😮
I am sure Martin can do that very easily.
I am open for ideas guys.if any one wishes to chip in.
However a paid commission is a non starter , sorry guys.
