Built over 30 years ago and still going strong after many Atlantic convoys and refits Bluebell is still one of my favourite boats.
Still sailed on a regular basis.
My sons, who used her as a build project all those years ago still enjoy her as well.
My sons wrote to the Flower Class Corvette Association were made Lifetime Members and given the tie and lapel badge.

    Survey Vessel (ALC 113/AGOR 113)

I bought the 1/72 kit while on vacation last summer, saw it on Facebook Marketplace for $40 CDN. The owner had it for years and was tired of taking the kit with him, when the moved he from apartment to apartment. It had been a gift from his grandmother, she knew he like to build plastic models but didnโ€™t know he was a model plane builder.

Well to my good fortune I build planes, vehicles and floating objects too.

Now before I close this off, it is my intention to build it as a post war vessel. Some of these went on to serve in other capacities for many years in peace time roles. Yes I know they have a distinguished role in history which most model builders will try to simulate, but there is the pre-war whaling role, and the post-war roles these ships preformed too.

A lovely looking vessel scratch builder, as lewz commented on your weathering-great job. Personally on the weathering front, I like to add a touch to my boats; not only do I think it adds a touch of realism alongside figures, it also helps to cover up some of my mistakes ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Weathering...
    Really looks good!
I wonder why we modelers neglect to do this to our models. Just about every ship has varying degrees of Rust, stains, chipping, and dirt, some more than others.
So, I pose this question to others on this forum... Do we forget to do this, don't want to mess up a beautiful model, or it just takes guts to "run with it"? I would like to hear your opinions.

In my opinion you are one of the best at coloring naval models. I really like how you make them very realistic.

"I will get around to putting HMS Victorious on a build blog and in my harbour before I get put on a charge ๐Ÿ˜‚"
    Looking forward to that Chief๐Ÿ‘
Start with the Harbour, so we can at least see what the finished article looks like.
    What scale is she?
I only have the 1:600 (38cm) Airfix version, post 1958 modernisation - angled flight deck etc.
    Cheers, Doug ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    Thanks All.
Still have the original Matchbox, box, (never throw anything out because you can guarantee you will need it the day after the bin men,(sorry, recycling operatives) have been.
So the other box is still awaiting an order from the builders but I have promised my sons that when the Grandsons are ready then they can help me build it like their Dadโ€™s did.
Always up for a challenge Doug, and,YES,I will get around to putting HMS Victorious on a build blog and in my harbour before I get put on a charge ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.I am trying to get all the pictures together from various files and folders.
    Happy Days
    Regards.

" it might be a good time for us all to dig them out and have a group build,"
    Oh no!๐Ÿ˜ฎ Another challenge Bill?
I have one of the first Revell series kits (30+ years old just after they bought the tooling etc from Matchbox) on the top shelf of my workshop.
I opened the box back then, saw the curious method of building the large wobbly hull and thought 'Oh s....ugar! How am I ever gonna build that straight?' and there it stopped!
Around that time my career in naval COMMS took off so the kit stayed in the cellar 'til my last move.
I also have a more recent kit, the so called Technik kit, with a few LEDs and a motor, which I stupidly bought on impulse two years ago. Musta been p****d!๐Ÿ™„
If it's a 'speed build' challenge you're thinking of I certainly won't win that, but I might have a chance in the 'make it work' stakes๐Ÿ˜
    Cheers, Doug ๐Ÿ˜Ž
PS Anyone want to buy the earlier kit?
Make me an offer I can't refuse๐Ÿ˜ฎ - Cross my palm with silver ...... ๐Ÿ˜

Hi Scratchbuilder, That is indeed a nice boat and I love the story that goes with it.

    Hi Martin,
An interesting thought, I'm sure many of us are in the same boat (oops) it might be a good time for us all to dig them out and have a group build, and see what we come up with, it would be fun to see how each other progress and get some new ideas.
My hull is on top of the fridge full of bits and pieces and nothing else is done ๐Ÿ˜Š
