    Hi Doug,
Thanks for the info, but if the truth be known the pennant number, Well, I just made up after looking at a few pictures.

Great research Doug, I seem to remember, that they sold an enhanced kit with wooden decks (or it could have been a extra fittings kit)

It is a nice boat to just potter around a pond, one day I may come back to her and give her the attention to detail she probably deserves.

One thing I will say is that she must be handled with care as its easy to break things off the ship with this much detail in plastic.

    Thanks again Doug,
    Regards Roy

    Hi CB,
    Good find, nice price😀
Some pics of her internals, motor & electronic fit, would be interesting, also a vid of her sailing characteristics.
Is she a Matchbox/Revell kit or a scratch build? Size/scale?
The plastic 1/72 kits were about 86.5cm LoA.

I note with interest her pennant number is K40.
She was commissioned into the RN as such as HMS Peony in August 1940.
Subsequently, in 1943, she was transferred to the Greek Navy and became RHNS Sachtouris, see pic, showing her in Sept. '43 just after her transfer to RHN.
In that pic I note that she has the Acoustic Hammer on the bow, as part of her U-Boat defence system. That is missing from your model!🤔
Sachtouris was returned to the Royal Navy in 1951, as the American Cannon and Gearing class destroyer escorts and destroyers began to arrive, and subsequently scrapped in 1952.

I also note from the photo that Peony/Sachtouris was an early 'Short Forecastle' version. Yet your model depicts a later Long Forecastle version with the forecastle stretching back to the funnel, well aft of the bridge. I can only assume that the original builder of the model had a particular connection, sentimental attachment to Peony or Sachtouris and hence the pennant number!

You've done a great job on the basic painting (as built) there, but many parts were different colours.
In particular, several deck sections were wooden and not grey steel plate. Esp. around the forecastle and on the bridge.
Attached are some examples of the paint schemes, from HMS Crocus K49, also showing the wooden decks.
I can recommend the Sovereign Paints (WEM site in CA US) or LifeLolor for accurate naval paints from the era👍
    Cheers, Doug 😎

Whatever you do with her you got a bargain there👍😀 So have fun with her!
I have two Revell 1/72 Flower Class kits in my stash, one vintage Revell and one updated so-called Technik version🙄! They both cost me a small fortune compared to your find!

I had quickly spray painted her to make her look respectable in the water, as she was unpainted plastic, unfortunately I have too many boats, that need my attention, the main one currently being a scratch built 48in Elco PT boat and simultaneously an Ebay find that I could not resist, a 39in cigarette hull for £20.

I also have an unfinished scratch built Italian MAS MTB 30in, also a
Fairly Huntsman 34in needs finishing, a Sun Tug 36in needs restoration part completed.

    A Bismarck battleship to upgrade,
    A Hydroplane (shrimp) to finish.

Boats completed and not in Harbour
A small vacuum moulded fishing boat
A second NDQ speed boat (have 2 of them)
    a mini Joysway speed boat
    an Nirvana American Yacht 34in
    a 1920's pond Yacht 48in was vane steering+
    a Genie class Marblehead 50in
    a Graham Bantock Marblehead 50in
    a freelance Marblehead 50in
    a R36 Yacht (36in)
a Plastic Vacuum boat by Sarik Hobbies RAF 43 rescue launch 24in
a Stealth boat for racing 27in
    3x Feilun ft011 Speedboats
3x Ripmax tomcat Action man boat
    a small 20in yacht.
See my Harbour for the rest.

    Hi.
Great find at a good price 👍
She would look great with a lick of paint and a weathered look.
Just back from an Atlantic convoy.
    Regards Bill.

What a great find and at that price too, quite a bargain. Why can't I ever see anything like that. Looks as if you've made a good job of the restoration too.
