Cellulose thinners can be a bit tricky sometimes, being very highly inflammable, but its other hidden secret is it can destroy aluminium Rulers with Printed-on data/information, as in markings in Inches and metric measurement units..
Was just finishing off a doping secession on the Telectra 3 getting things ready for the clean up of brushes and unwanted spills, the Ally ruler a 12" jobber is most of the time on the bench, and unbeknownst to me i had knocked over the small container of thinners, making a big puddle of thinners all over the worktop, but then i noticed the rule was lying in the thinners, when i picked up the ruler and the printed measurement info vanished/disappeared before my eyes, dissolved, gone to the either, lost forever, i was not a happy bunny.. Back to the Engineers steel rule, which i find is a little harder to read than its Ally counterpart, But i prefer the Ally rule as its a bit thicker and easier to use as a model knife guide.
