My son gave me a flat bottom sail boat that he found on the street on garbage day . I wondered how I would fix it as the masts had been broken off it sat on the work bench for about 6 months finally decided to make a R/C African Queen out of this flat bottom sail boat .It's only 14 inch's so to put all the electronics in it will be a bit of challange ! The prop & rudder will have to be placed first so thats a beginning . Built a fake boiler & a fake steam engine from internet photo's I think there not to shabby .

Today here in southern Ontario fall weather today rain & a little snow so worked on African Queen got lucky ask a fellow in our club if he had a small prop & stuffing box .He said he would look & if he found anything he would bring it to our March Club Meeting . I was pleasantly suprised as he found one . A model boat club is great as we can get things that other members may have . The only way to put motor in was to build up the hull bottom then make a pit to put motor in & away we go . It's a little crude but a little elbow grease will fix that up .

Just a little update on my R/C project of the 16 inch African Queen .It works motor runs rudder turns right way also still a lot of fine tuning inside hull & a bath tube test needed but I'm confident she will sail in a tiny pond one day.P/S put a little video on Media Gallery just to prove it works ! 😆.

She's all set to go sailing at Our May 29 weekend at the Hamilton Steam Museum Our club Confederation Marine modellers haven't had a show here for 2 years so fingers crossed no more lock downs this year . But we still have to be carefull & keep getting booster shots & masks indoors for a little bit more .

If you look closely, you may spot one green fake gas bottle and we can't forget that because they became torpedoes in the movie used to sink the German patrol ship.
