I am having problems following bulkhead curves with 5mm planks in stern area of this boat. Any suggestions?

Depending on what timber it is, I suggest hold over a boiling kettle or pot and hold the bending tension on it as you pass it over the hot steam. If successful you will feel the timber start to bend as it heats. Otherwise laminate from thinner strips and do it over a former with rad you want. Good luck. Ian

Hi Davis, I use a slat bender.

    It's awesome.

    Advantages:
    Easy to use.
    Inexpensive.
    Not dangerous.
    Does not require electricity.
Get the radius of curvature you want.

    Disadvantages:
It leaves notch marks on one side of the strips (very unsightly).
If this side is not visible then there is no problem.

Hi. I have had success using a steam iron over a wooden curved former. Put some brown paper over the wood first so that the iron doesn't mark it. Wife was not that happy, but it worked ๐Ÿ˜‚

I have used a model craft PTK3030 Plank Bending Tool Kit. It's a bit like a soldering iron but has a large round cylinder (about 1" ) at the end. The kit comes with a a block of wood which is shaped to allow your strip to be bent into different degrees of curvature. I then wet the strip first before using the bending iron. Hope this may help.

Can U laminate two, (or more), stringers, deck beams etc., side by side. Maybe split, length wise, then, 'end for end' one, to limit grain imperfection in timber? Just a guess as I haven't been following U're build
Hope that promotes thought for a solution. 100 different ways to do some things! 'B J'. ๐Ÿค”
