Well thought I'd start a build blog for the fishing boat I working on. The boat is build from an Gifted hull that I believe came from an eBay UK listing, My friend had bought it at some point with the idea of starting Model boating - sadly he died in February from diabetes complications, this impacted me badly, so I thought I'd complete this as promised.
I have this model in my harbour page so though best to go along with this here.
Excuse the out of sequence photos and my build, somewhat messy at times
    So here go's

Update on the motor mount. Have had a few hours messing to find the solution, so in the end I remade the mount with longer adjustment slots on the top, this gives a bit more forward/back slide to fine tune.
I also added a TPU rubber base 2.5mm thick that now clicks into the base of the mount and a very thin .6mm TPU slip to go under the motor itself, Hey presto no nasty shakes of noise through most of the motor speeds on 12v.

Also started chopping up my lead ready as maybe get the floating done in the next day or two.

The more of this model you show us the resemblance becomes that of the Cygnus 19+ fishing vessels.

It's OK, and it comes with its own issues, finding a software solution to modelling was a bit hit-and-miss (fusion360 now) , adding a resin printer (60th gift soon ๐Ÿคž)to my options will hopefully allow me to also make more detailed parts (no layer line as such) to figures and detail accessory parts for both my model boat making and my bigger 1/6th ground based models.
Maybe will need a bigger workspace soon ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคž

Having a 3D printer and knowing how to use it must make things a lot easier.

Hopefully one day Iโ€™ll get around to learning that side of model building.

Here's the motor mount I've made second version has for and aft movement as well as allowing the motor to slide up and down the mount.
Its fine and it's not, I've had to shim it to stop mild vibration at speed, probably the hull resonating but still feel I may have a error in the angle. So later today I'll reprint it's with either longer slots on the top, that would give me a little more adjustment in the motor position. Failing a resolution to this I'll redo the mount with a variable angle so I could find the sweet spot

(I'll check later to see if the coupling is a bit off-centre, I did read someplace that these universal couplings mite bit moulded a little out)

Moving on a bit now I've worked out the power source and went with a 12v7amp. Deck is ready to fit (2mm Ply)
I have the added keel to glass over and at the moment I added a 50mm plastic prop-we'll see how we go before I add shekels for a brass one..
Its all a bit"warts an all" right now
Been using 2 part epoxy with micro bubbles for the bearers (small tubes as I would run out on a bank Holiday (UK)
About 10 tries to decide how and where esc and battery are going.
Been using a bit of UV resin to secure parts (the prop tube before I locked it in with epoxy.
Motor mount 3d printed in PLA, and after a few tries its still out by about 1mm. Im unsure if this is due not aligning the motor to prop shaft (I use a solid coupling (3d printed) and then trialled it running, still seemed to vibrate so I've added some temporary packing till I iron the problem out, the blue tape is to keep small nuts and washer from getting into those magnets inside (I have done that and forgot to check)

Will have to finish covering the keel tommorow so I can see how much church roof it needs....

Hi, A nice build, well done. A suggestion, as an engineer I would suggest try and reduce the angle on your universal coupling to help reduce any vibration etc. Maybe make a wedge to go under the motor to do this, Cheers Ian ๐Ÿ‘

    Hi Floatsam,

I really love your fishing boatโ€”great design, and it absolutely captures that true working vessel look. The hull shape and that wheelhouse give it a very honest, purposeful feel, like a boat thatโ€™s meant to earn its keep.

Seeing the progress in your photos, itโ€™s clear youโ€™re putting real thought into the build. The layout is coming together nicely, and even with the in-progress stages, it already has a strong presence.

What makes it even more special is the story behind it.
Finishing this for your friend is a meaningful tribute, and youโ€™re doing it justice.
Iโ€™m sure heโ€™d be proud to see how itโ€™s taking shape.

Looking forward to the next updatesโ€”please keep them coming.

Yes, His name was Tom, and he loved sea fishing with a passion, but he only did shore fishing due to his apprehension of boats.
He got 1-week notice of his end... no enough to say farewell.๐Ÿ˜”

Still not had any ideas for the actual name. ?

    just noticed a typo...

Will the finished vessel carry your friendโ€™s name?

No build drawings or plans here just building this with inspiration from the many boats where I live, also from doing a web crawl for photos with as much information as possible, I also have access to my sons boat.
Have tried this esc buts It's way too sweeky for my liking so I have now used a Qrirun 1080 that was in my parts box
