I hope to make a dory that is 30” an that sails. Many varieties of these boats, some with decks, others open. Short ones 10’ and longer dories up to 22’; there are none mast versions and others with two masts. Some were built for racing only! Various sail designs too, so it is possible to make one that sails RC, though the challenge of making an open type is before me 🤔?

The Dory has a 10” length and a width of 3”. That’s 25.5 cm x 8 cm

The frames are between 3 & 5 mm wide, delicate!

Looks good Ron!

It might be worth saving the pieces that your "good parts" came from and use them as templates to trace out for another dory.

Here is a small delicate Model Shipways Dory kit that I added a sail rig with rudder.

The kit has small laser cut parts which if you are careful removing them, the parts do not break, but it does if pressure is applied. This small kit’s wood is delicate and light weight so go slowly.

The instructions were very clear, it said to use CA but I used a good quality carpentry glue and small clamps. Some parts of the instructions asked for beveled edges, but frankly the material is so small and delicate that I ignored it. On a larger model sure, but not on this one.

The dory will be painted in the Spring when it is warmer weather, it’s winter in Canada.

I referred to John Gardener’s The Dory Book as a reference for the rudder and sailing rig.
