We know from official documents and photos that the following boats mounted the THUNDERBOLT operationally - PT556-559, 331, 174, 160. PT138 mounted one or two of the experimental versions stateside for a short period.
In the photos, the boat heading west is PT331 while that heading east is PT174 in 1945.

The following is taken from Al Ross's work with John Lambert. It appears that there were 4 versions of the Thunderbolt, with the C-4 version put into production and fitted to PT 556-559(Ron 29). This version consisted of four 20mm Oerlikons. PT 160 mounted an experimental version with three Oerlikons and two .50cals. Some boats in RON 10(PT 163-174) and RON 21(PT 320-331) mounted Thunderbolts in the Southwest Pacific.
I'll keep looking for specific boat #'s.

Would recommend a book Allied Torpedo Boats by John Lambert and Les Brown.Excellent pics and text👍
Your best bet would be to consult the PT Boat forum, here: http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboard.cgi?fid=102&cid=101&fct=gotoforum
The other is to consult one of Al Ross's and John Lambert's volumes of Coastal Forces. I think the volume covering ELCOs has quite a bit on it. If I have a moment later I'll check my copy for hull #'s.

Wondered if anyone has built a PT Boat with a Thunderbolt gun mounting on the stern?
I think this would really add to the model appeal.
Does anyone know any of the boat numbers that were fitted with this gun mount?
Thanks
