Hi all, thankyou for your contributions. Dave 976, l think your right that the parts are bespoke to Robbe also all have said its a good idea. l cant see it being ignored by other yacht kit makers, l will keep looking around the net one never knows what will turn up. stay safe you lot, Jim.

Almost certainly a bespoke Robbe part that very neatly performs its function. If you have a lathe or a friend with one it should be relatively simple to fabricate the part to closely resemble the original. In fact I suspect you could make the part without a lathe as the threaded part is nylon and could be drilled and threaded in a vice and the bearing fabricated in an electric drill with a file. You can buy long brass threaded rod and a nut soldered on the end and then slotted will form the screw. I like the idea so may attempt one myself. Thanks for sharing

Does this adjust the camber of the jib this is called a clew outhaul is the curve of the sail along the boom or is it for a line which goes to the the tang to which the fore stay is attached to this is for a leach line which controls the twist in the sail, that is the edge near the mast.

Hi luckyduck, your exactly right the way it fits and tightens the sail, and l think it's Robbe own design. It's a good idea so l recon that somebody out there still manufacture's some thing close to the original. Ok

looks like the threaded brass goes into the boom, and the plastic triangle attaches to the sail? Tightening the brass stretches the clew of the sail towards the end of the boom to get a tight foot of the sail. Is this right?
If so the part is actually a clew tensioner, and almost certainly a Robbe special. I am sure there should be plenty of variations on this theme, and it depends if you want an authentic refurb, or whether a home made or close match would suit your needs.

looks like Robbe are not using conventional names, unless they have adopted a peak fitting for the jib boom. It would help if you can load a picture of your other smaragd with the fitting in place to see if anyone can help.

the peak of a sail is the very top, normally where the halyard joins to hoist the sail. The forrard corner at the bottom of the sail is called the tack, the aft corner, normally where the sheet is attached is called the clew. Any help?

Hi chaps lm in the middle of refurbing a Smaragd. I need to order a few new bits for the jib sail, trouble is l dont know what they are called.
l have the original parts list for the smaragd, robbe describe it as a peak fitting. Its the part inserted into the rear of the boom to tension the jib sail. Been on line drawn a complete blank, so it must called or described as something else.
Any ideas chaps, stay safe, Jim.
