I used to have a Dremel scroll saw, and found it useful, but someone else decided it would be more useful to them, so they broke into my shed and stole it. That was about 30 years ago and I am still angry about it!

Same here DuncanP, hadn't really thought about one until after reading what everyone has said. Thinking I'll be looking for one after Christmas ๐ ๐ค

Hi Everyone, Thank you very much to everyone who has offered input to my query. It has all been very useful information and I thank you for your time in replying. I will see if there are any reductions after Christmas in the New Year sales! All the best for Christmas and the New Year! Happy sailing and building in 2024.

RodC, yes, it helps quie a bit. Vibration would be an issue with that clamp on scroll saw that was in the topic of this discussion. Especially true if using a small portable work table.

LewZ, your anti-vibration foam pad is an excellent idea. Keeps the saws from moving around & absorbs the vibration noises, essential in condo/apt living.

While on the subject... - here are photos of my main hobby power cutting tools (small).
Harbor Freight scroll saw (with 3D printed hose guides to attach to my shop vacuum). Real easy to change blades (from the top). No need to clamp it down.
Micro-Mark mini table saw (with 3D printed elbow to attach to my shop vacuum). Replacement blade is expensive.
Also, I use a Harbor Freight foot switch (96199) that my Dremel rotary tool is plugged into. The tool hangs from the side of my table. Just turn on the tool, adjust the speed, then operate it using the foot switch (like a dentist).
Take a tip from Microsoft: "Plug and Play" (minimize setup time).

Yes Duncan, I have one and they are a great tool. You can use it free hand or in the table attachment. Great for cutting fine details in your boat modelling. I'm very happy with mine pal. Regards, Taffy.

I have had this tool for 6 years and it has been excellent. It is great to be able to remove the saw from the bench. However, just check where you will be attaching it to the bench as it may not fit. It needs a table top for the clamps to work and may not fit where you have drawers or if the frame of bench is too close to the edge of the table top. Unlikely to be an issue but worth checking.
A Few years ago I had issues with getting the dremmel blades and could not use my saw for a while, I now ensure I have plenty of spares. I use the saw mainly for HIPs and it does a great job.

I didn't know that Dremel made this model (attaching the rotary tool). I had the old Dremel table scroll saw until it gave out. Replaced it with a Harbor Freight saw (very similar), and I use it a lot, works great.
Now about this one (MS20) you asked about... the rotary tool sticks down quite a bit. Looks clumsy with that clamp to fasten it to a shelf๐ค. I'd choose my HF table saw over this one any day. Just pull it out, plug it in and it's ready to go, and it sits on a table!
