Hi Chris, congratulations for your photos you are really good.
I had imagined it was a sparrowhawk that we in Italy call "Sparviere" or "Sparviero".
I am passionate about animals and can often recognize them at first sight, so much so that when my friends find a snake or an insect or other unusual animal they send me photos asking me what species it is.
I try never to use the common name (which changes from state to state but also from region to region and creates confusion) but the scientific name, because thanks to the Limneus binomial it is unique throughout the globe without the possibility of error.
I also love falconry and some time ago a friend brought us home a trained falcon but the photos were on his old cell phone.
On my current phone I found these recent photos of a highly trained bird of prey, do you know which one it is? He is not endemic to Italy.
And then there are these cute reptiles, which I adore.

This is Chesterton windmill which is only a few miles away from me. Unfortunately at the moment the sails have been removed for repair.

Yes, a sparrowhawk. We've had them in the garden a number of times over the years, usually at the expense of some other bird. They should have called it something else though as they often take larger birds, in this case a pigeon. Caught red beaked!

I take all sorts of photographs but mainly landscapes and for the last few years birds.

So now I am looking through what pictures I have handy on my computer which are worthy of posting.

As for the main places to see in Rome, I hope you will be able to see as many as possible, but it will be impossible to see them all.
Even today I go out with my son and visit new places that I have never seen. The historic center of the City is the largest in the world and various historical and artistic periods overlap, classical antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque, the neoclassical etc.etc.

We went on a road trip at the beginning of April, chasing the perfect spot to witness the Total Solar Eclipse.
On the way there, we took the opportunity to tour "Fantastic Caverns", a HUGE cave. Big enough that the tour is on a trailer towed by a Jeep.

Flavian Amphitheater (better known as Colosseum), San Pietro in Vaticano, San Giovanni, San Paolo, colonna Traiana, Roman Forum and Palatine, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna, Castel Sant'Angelo etc. etc. you could see them in any history or art book.

Then there's the occasional big boy...300 pounds+. The scrawny yearlings disappear when these guys appear. Two years ago a 623 pound monster was taken 10 miles from our place!

Here is another video. Showing just how brave they get if then want to get food for their young. This went on for over a couple of hours. I was up there for a week and they kept coming back every day for prolonged visits. Several times a day.

I have tried adding a bit of video from a Norfolk Potter Heigham fishing trip. This is what a fishing trip is makes my day worth it even more if I don't catch anything.

We had a couple of ducklings in the garden last year which was a surprise as we live on an estate quite away from any water!

This was while fishing on the canal, I think The Grand Union Canal? along the Stoke Road in Bletchley Milton Keynes. Mother and baby out for a swim and a bumble Bee collecting some nectar to take back to the hive.
I always stop there for a couple of days fishing in the Motorhome when we are on our way on a drop in visit to our son in Heywood Manchester. I leave my lovely wife in the vehicle doing her thing and using the mobile internet that's been fitted.

I have been trying to upload its of video. every time it comes up as it finish's loading invalid file. My video's I think are great. But they just wont load. Wildlife when I am fishing in Norfolk makes my day, I could sit for 7 or 8 hours and not catch a thing and my day would have been amazing. Why can't these video's load???

Wolle I got a kick out of your joke about dike sheep falling over. There are some parts of the US were people actually rent out their flock of goats to people to graze and clear out overgrown vegetation. My cousin hires a flock from a man every year to clean up his property in Maryland. Len

Hi Wolle, I think those are sparrows rather than finches. Anyway, here is one of my feathered friends enjoying the sun in the garden. He's having a rest after bringing up two broods during which time he trained me to feed him!

Since we have a lot of dikes in the north, there are also a lot of sheep that keep the grass on the dikes short. But be careful, we have special dike sheep that have two short and two long legs so that they can walk straight along the dike. But you have to be careful, there are left and right runners. If the right-runner sheep walks on the wrong side, it will roll down the dike.🤣🤣😆
